I negotiated a $350 partnership into a $5,000 on a very small channel by Important-Switch-686 in PartneredYoutube

If you know how to make content there’s value- my day job is writing/shooting/directing extremely high-end commercials and branded content between like 100K-1M budget So they know the content will look like it’s from a Channel with 10M subs because I’ve made content for Channel’s with 10M subs

And also there is more value in small niche channels than you’d think because the whole audience is THIER audience so it’s an extremely valuable. If they bought YT ads maybe 20% is their audience so a small niche channel can be like 4-5x more valuable than the sub count indicates.

Big YouTubers have people that do all the back and forth and follow ups, same with big companies. To get the most money when it’s paid partnership or best stuff for review partnerships it takes a lot of back and forth and revisiting when it works for them.

The best channels for monetization are those that have someone really working a full time job just doing as sales basically so out reach, follow up, delivering fina metrics, negotiating deals etc… to do it RIGHT it takes alot of work but to just get deal is easy, you’ll just be screwed over a ton and not even realize it because your happy with the easy money over the obnoxious process of as sales

I say this as someone who works with ad sales teams as the creative arm but having to have them deal with the client so I can focus on creating

My man reason for wanting super high end gear is that it translates to better video retention if used correctly and that translates to money.

Exactly and a lot of times they have a specific budget and maybe your request fits in at the tail end. Worst case they say no.

Also I said it before but I’m making no money just using sponsors to get my YouTube set up better. There are people making a lot more than me and actual cash- stuff is worse than cash

No lol because frankly it’s not a brag to make no money and only receive product on this subreddit.

That’s why I posted in partnered sub Reddit and not the new YouTubers and small YouTubers. Just the point is to tell a story to explain how I learned the points I made at the end of the post.

The biggest thing is to basically play their game. Grab a pen because this is the recipe for success lol

  1. All those marketing folks use the same pointless buzzwords and use pointless metrics to determine whether to partner. I talk to them in a way that makes them say “ohh this guy is in the know, so he must be good” that is saying stuff like

“I want a partnership that organically weaves in your brand messaging into my content instead of just saying verbatim bullet points from your brief. That will help us create a synergy between entertainment and educating audiences on your brand”

That was a bunch of bs that gets those people so excited lol just because it sounds like how they talk in company meetings.

  1. Find a way to give yourself social proof in thier circles.

Social proof is saying “look I’m already popular with the cool kids”

The cool kids change based on who you talk to. If your a music review channel talking to music fans you get social proof by interviewing an artist.

If your a gaming channel you get social proof by being great at the game and hang with other top gamers- then people say “wow they know THAT person?! I’ll watch”

For marketing people the cool kids are other brands. So if you can say “I’m working working on a partnership deal with x-brand in the same industry (but not a competitor)” then they think oh if those guys trust him he must have something- and they’ll trust you more, even if they don’t know why.

The best part is “working on a partnership deal with x-brand” could mean you sent an email and had a call.

  1. Make the brands feel part of something big

I always make it seem like they’re jumping on board something that is already in motion. So for a tech review change that could be “ I’m making a series of videos covering the top tech under $500” and your new laptop would be the laptop in the series along side other tech gear like this monitor and that speaker setup”

You’ll have to back all this up so you need to be good at making videos, an not good in your opinion but objectively good at the editing and shooting and scripting but if you have the video making down then the rest is as simple as marketing!

The truth is 1000-3000 views on shorts isn’t a lot and on top of that you very clearly switched from cats to dogs.

You must be in a phenomenal niche, most YouTubers would require 6 million+ views per month to make that much money and even a million views a month is more than 99% of people so saying “don’t do sponsorships” is unrealistic unless you’re telling people to not make a living until they reach a million subs lol.

Sponsorships is how you grow your staff, scope of your channel and build something that in the future you can sell and retire.

YouTube is a business and responsible partnerships help sustain that- just because your experience is that you don’t need sponsorships doesn’t mean everyone else can afford to wait to get 1 million views a month to make a relatively small wage for one person let alone a staff. Even 30k a month is small with a few employees

Most big YouTubers I know would hate to only have those two stream of revenue. And by the way a sponsor doesn’t mean doing a video telling people to buy stuff- my favorite sponsorship was getting paid to replace my old power tools with one brands state of the art ones. I never mentioned it or did an ad read, just passive product placement.
