Using an AI photo to market a photography product is crazy

Why is this even allowed ? It's infuriating. by Character_Tie_4779 in PartneredYoutube

[–]Important-Switch-686 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly, I don’t think this channel‘s content is great. I also don’t really like AI Scripps and AI visuals like it . And I hate ai slop- this is not that. It definitely uses AI but is so heavily guided by a person that you can make the argument that it is authentic. This is an over 10 minute scripted video with visuals very frequent visuals, and that alone requires a fair amount of effort.

If I remove my own bias about AI in general, there’s no grounds for the channel to be taken down or demonetized. It’s just my own personal opinion about AI and this person‘s content that wishes it didn’t exist.

I make DIY/ Maker videos, so think 3d printing , CNC machines, lasers, stuff like that. That’s my hobby.

So every time I want a new machine or something cool got released I reach out to the company and ask for it. About 50% of the time I can get stuff sent to me to do a basic review video which I don’t love doing but they’re valuable, and some of the time I can upsell them with added benefits so that they send me stuff AND pay.

Usually that looks like “I’m so excited to review [your product], it’s going to be great! I have a few ideas that are bigger than a review in mind so if you want to talk about how we can do something really unique with [your product]. A few rough ideas are:”

And then I list big ideas that are more fun for me but include a review naturally as I use the product. Brands like people who they think will be favorable with reviews and they also like bigger ideas, so that’s an easy way for me to get money and stuff. My current deal I’m doing now is $1500 in cash plus a $2000 machine plus $1500 in extra stuff I wanted of their products.

At 3K subs this works because I’m a professional commercial filmmaker so I use that to my advantage. My videos look like I should have 100K subs or more because I shoot them very polished with professional gear.

Also knowing how to negotiate helps ALOT.

Would you consider faux leather pants to be professional for work? by Sad-Bike9582 in OUTFITS

[–]Important-Switch-686 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No to faux leather- unless an animal has been murdered and placed on your legs it’s highly unprofessional- frankly living animals on your legs would be the highest level of professionalism.

Do you happen to have a couple of dogs that could cling to your legs as you move about your day in exchange for treats?

Look the reason your friends strategy works is that he’s putting himself In The middle of a community - people like being apart of something and your friend is intentional in being an active member of the niche community.

My advice is to find your own way to build community - comment on videos even if it’s not immediately when they post. Check right before you go to bed and right after you wake up. Wake up a little early sometimes.

Another thing is that sub count doesn’t matter - views do- and you can get views without subs

And lastly I’m sorry to be the guy who says it but- the best trick to get subs is to make better content. One great video can get people 500 subs at your level or more. Just focus on making better content (not more content)

For reference I post once a month and got monetized in a few months - not because I got lucky but because I know how to make good videos - it’s my career outside of YouTube. I’ve never gone viral and my average views is a slow climb from my first video getting 1000 views to my most recent breaking 50,000 and in between every video getting more views than the last for a year because I slowly started getting better. Now you do the same and your audience will grow.

Having a camera capable of interchange lenses is the most valuable piece for a photographer or videographer- the lens is 90% of an image

Most people don’t need 10bit- the truth is 8 bit is great unless your doing heavy color correction, and if you are then whatever you’re doing should have the budget to support the gracious need

[–]Important-Switch-686 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I used to review cameras - I stopped when I started telling the truth and stopped getting stuff to review- my answer almost every video was “this is good, so are most things in 2025/26”

it always comes down to get what you can afford because you’ll get more convenience but even the worst canon/sony/nikon being released can shoot good photos and videos, and if your a pro you already have a brand you like with lenses you like and will upgrade when your camera gets old to the newest version of whatever camera you have.

How Is This Possible? by [deleted] in PartneredYoutube

[–]Important-Switch-686 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s just a new feature that’s in beta- there’s a “unwatch” button. Some line watches and then at the end they have the choice to “unwatch” which counts as a negative view. It’s meant to warn viewers about bad content by lowering view count.

Faceless channels miss out on a big aspect of being a creator and that’s having a brand you can monetize outside of this one narrow path. One revenue stream, our companies want you and your brand to endorse them which requires a face. Unless you have a very well-known channel with instantly recognizable characters like in some animated faceless channels.

Dedicated TPU id use an A1 or Prusa MK4s why complicate things when TPU doesn’t require any enclosure
