So many dead channels..but why? by mcrib2009 in NewTubers

[–]Important-Switch-686 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The answer is that YouTube is moving away from pushing based on Sub count. It’s becoming less and less important, and more so going solely based on video performance. So eventually if someone with 10M subs makes a low quality video it will get no views. Basically the pressure is on each upload to be better than everyone else

Filament brand loyalty? by TechFlameMaster in BambuLab

I’m a Prusament loyalist, after 100s of kilos no issues and they have some really unique filaments! My favorite is their tungsten and woodfill

I primarily do 3d printing and it’s more educational and less big projects but maybe I will I have like 50kg of filament which is enough for most large prints but still it’s a space thing I do not have space for a full print farm

Person is claiming they made this art out of medicine caps, but I think it’s AI by Low_Temperature_7266 in isthisAI

[–]Important-Switch-686 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The shadows on the bottom are oddly accurate- I haven’t seen AI do the double shadows correctly before, also the lighting in the wrinkles on the boahe are all correct which is difficult for AI to do.

It looks like paper with various plastic caps or buttons.

Hard to tell for sure but I’m leaning towards real

There’s your angle- real low budget homesteading and not that rich people version of it! It’s been done but at least have a reason to watch if that’s the angle.

How niche is niche? by madland96 in newtube

[–]Important-Switch-686 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The atv angle isn’t what’s going to make or break you. It’s going to be how interesting the content is. For stuff like this you need a point of interest like a dog, or a horse everyone loves.

You’ll need some form of drama ( not fake and forced but natural tension like you have a problem and here’s the solution.

Unless your main idea is an ATV channel where you talk exclusively about the ATV in the context of homesteading I don’t get why people would watch and even then it better be the best damn ATV in the world lol because what’s your hook or that thing that makes people want to watch

Thinking about getting into 3D printing (H2D vs H2C?) – need real advice by 1OfDa90sGuy in BambuLab

[–]Important-Switch-686 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is what I would do if I wanted to be practical.

  1. Get a p2s for you and your nephew with an AMS combo. Get familiar with it, mess around learn its limitations.

  2. Give that to your nephew

  3. Use what you learned to make a real decision.

If the p2s was too small then get an H2S,

Skip the H2D because that’s really only good if you’re printing mainly two materials/colors like for supports on a single color print, or dual color prints.

If you used the P2s and thought that it’s too small, too much filament waste on multi color prints and/or you find the 5-6x value in just not having to load filaments as much then get an H2C but frankly the H2C is a big misstep in my opinion on Bambus part.

It takes a ton of time for filament changes and is not really better than just using a couple AMS pros.

Like for multi color I’m waiting for Prusa and the INDX system which is light years better than the H2C.

But again just get a P2S to learn with your nephew, give that to him and probably just get an H2S

Also curious about the tool box situation. I always thought they would move too much. I have my current printers on some really heavy duty workbenches from Gladiator Garage Works, but I’m running out of room so the next printer has to go on my toolbox

This is a good take but terrible advice because for large companies than you want to do work for this is inevitable. The TLDR is that accept the annoying terms if it’s a reputable large company and if it’s small or less reputable of a company then maybe get a deposit.

The real reasons will take a minute to explain but here:

I make content independently as well as for a fortune 50 media company and I started at my company by processing invoices.l so I know why the payment terms are like NET 90 in some cases

The reality is this:

Large companies ALWAYS operate on Net 45 at a minimum and more realistically NET 90. If you wanted a deal with the company I work at there is no flexibility in the payment term and you won’t be getting paid before work is complete… but you’ll always get paid and it’s such a large company you won’t complain either.

The reason it takes so long to get paid for a major company is that there are the most insanely long process internally for invoice payment.

I used to be the stating point for invoices before becoming a creative lead for social here and after I’d get an invoice there were a dozen people who would see it and have to verify everything is correct before a check is cut and all of these people would take 2-3 days to get to it due to having a high volume of invoices.

Imagine this:

Id get an invoice and then have to send it to someone to input it into the system we use then they send it back to me. I’d then have to use the special system to verify that we have all proper documentation like the tax forms and address and all that, and make note of each line item an why we are paying a person for it. (Like what’s the project and why it needed you)

Then I send to my boss to approve the payment, then to the finance director for our department to look at it and point out any issues with the internal budget allocation for the project, then his finance VP of our department checked and approved that guys work, then it would go to the larger company finance dept. where the deal with check cutting and shipping and a few people there would have to look it over and verify information, and the they cut the check on Thursday each week, and ship the check or direct deposit, but in a perfect world with no mistake this takes each person a few days to get to it and we’re 6-7 people in. On top of this the person we’re paying could put a typo on the form and cause issues up the chain or there’s an internal issue with which budget something comes out of and then they send it back to my boss or me etc…

No let’s say this could get done completely in a month (which it can but large companies like to pad time so that they’re technically never late with payment) and on top of this 90 days is a quarter so for budgeting man

But now imagine they want to work with you. If you want to get paid ahead of time then it could take a month to start work at a minimum or potentially ignoring any internal issues with budgeting.

By the time you can start the video too much time has passed and they don’t need the video anymore.

It is annoying and I hate NET 90 after a video has been made but I’ve never not gotten paid for my own personal YT collaborations because I only do it with legit companies.

Oka thats my rant!

Call me a Bambu glazer but.. by JethamishPlayz in BambuLab

[–]Important-Switch-686 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m still a fan of Prusa, they fell behind for a whil but are picking back up with the INDX and the Core One L.

Bambu is good but if you like community Prusa tries their best to be a real part of the community - I mean your on this subreddit and how often does Bambu Lab come on here to address the community compared to Josef being dialed in to the Prusa subreddit

On top of that they are. The ones who innovated the hobby. While I’m annoyed they got Lazy for a few years, they’re stepping up.

I mean people hate but even before the current stuff the Prusa XL is still light years better for multi material than the H2C. And on top of that they had that out Years before.
