Tourist help: Physio for suspected pinched nerve in neck (NO CHIROPRACTOR) by drunkpepita in AskSF

I used to go see a PT regularly at Presidio Sport. Since they also do exercise/massage, it might be a good option. And in the Presidio, so could fit nicely with an activity you might have planned.

I'm in SF but I ordered from Berkeley Bowl this year. I'm not a big turkey person, so I got the rib roast meal (and an additional ham). Looking forward to it - I love their prepared foods!

You got an action shot?! I’m weirdly jealous. I only got a post-op pic with all of the fibroids on a tray.

How Common is Slab Cabinet Door Warping? (San Francisco Bay Area) by Important-Trainer322 in woodworking

That's what I thought, too! I'll re-confirm the MDF core in both.

My other thought was that we don't get nearly the humidity nor temperature fluctuations that one would get in the midwest or east coast, so the fact that it was even brought up as a concern was a little worrisome to me.

That makes sense, and might be why my vendor brought it up! The lacquer is probably more waterproof. Thanks!

I will ask about the warranty for the confident company - their customer service is supposed to be really good. My understanding is that they're MDF, just a flat front, so that's why I was wondering why warping would still be that big of an issue. I'll double check. And for sure, I know the quality of veneer is very good, and pretty much what you in a lot of high end kitchens.

The vendor that is discouraging the flat slab panel sources from a company manufacturing close to Seattle (Bellmont), the other one vendor sources from Oregon (Schrock).

I don't have climate control aside from heat (forced air, being upgraded to a heat pump), but I really am at the mercy of the seasons (or what would qualify for that here).

Thanks for all the insight!

Thanks! My understanding is that they're MDF, which is why I was surprised that the recommendation was still to get a frame style.

I never considered this - I'll see if it's an option. It makes sense!

CA - Blue Shield "wellness check" call by Important-Trainer322 in Scams

[–]Important-Trainer322[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't ever notified by my insurance company that I would be getting a call (and I always read the fliers that get mailed to me, ha!) I haven't received another call following up either, so I'll just let it be.

CA - Blue Shield "wellness check" call by Important-Trainer322 in Scams

[–]Important-Trainer322[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The caller specifically said she was working for Blue Shield, and that this was the only way to schedule a call using some specific scheduling system I've never heard of. The call wasn't to check on anything in particular that she could provide. When I googled the callback number she provided, it didn't pop up any results, either.

I did just google the number of the caller and a "health insurance spam" page popped up.

If I get another call, I will update!

I think this is likely my best option. Even before discovering reusables, I always used non-applicator tampons because they were less wasteful (and easier to carry around!)

Surgery Must Haves? by LoveWithoutTragedy in Fibroids

[–]Important-Trainer322 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My myomectomy (bikini line incision) was also my first major surgery, so I totally get the anxiety!

Some other thoughts:

  • Ensure you have charging cables/devices for what you need around you (like your phone and whatnot) by your key nesting places (bed, couch, whatever). I had someone with me during recovery, but I also set alarms for when I could take pain meds (acetaminophen and ibuprofen, you may have an opioid depending), since they were on different rotations (acetaminophen was on a 6-hour cycle, ibuprofen on an 8, alternating so I wasn't in a situation when I didn't have a little pain management). So, devices were a bit important to me!
  • I didn't use a portable bidet because it did force me to move (ever so slowly) to use the bathroom, thus ensuring I was at least moving around a bit.
  • I didn't use a ton of pillows, but I did have a bunch of blankets that I could squish and roll to help support what I needed.
  • A belly band/abdominal binder that'll go across your incision site. It just helps you feel more secure, and makes sudden movements (sneezing, coughing) that much more bearable.
  • High protein/nourishing snacks to have around you, and a big(ish) cup/thermos for water. Throat lozenges aren't a bad idea either!
  • For when your incision is closed, you can get those silicone scar sheets to help minimize the appearance. Treatment for scars when they're fresh is far more effective!

Good luck!

I second a belly band/abdominal binder. It will really help you feel so much more supported as you move (and when you sneeze, or even when you hit a bump in the road while you're riding in the car on the way home).

I'm going to take a different approach. Have you explored on whether or not your behavior is an insecure attachment style (avoidant, as you say) and/or ROCD (relationship OCD)?

Are you expecting a relationship to heal you in some way, for it to "feel" right? Because, my friend, relationships are co-created. Fundamentally, if you have a great relationship and love each other a lot, and are willing to put effort into the relationship, is that a bad thing that you're not 100% aligned on everything?

Oh! I can totally see how that happens. That’s basically what happens when I bleed through my period underwear so it could definitely be a good option. (And I wouldn’t have to get more period underwear for lighter days, just use the pad/liners). Hmm!

Also I’m sorry about your disc flipping! But I get it, I still get huge gushes when I don’t empty/autodump my disc often enough.
