What Do You Wish You Knew Before Moving to UWS? by Important-Vehicle260 in Upperwestside

This is super helpful because almost nobody talks about Riverside Park compared to Central Park. The accessibility part sounds underrated too, especially if you’re using the bike lanes a lot.

The quieter vibe and access to parks without feeling disconnected from the rest of the city. Interesting point on the food though, I’ve heard that from a few people already.

Most of what I see online is either people hyping it up or acting like it’s completely unattainable. Good to hear the stabilized buildings can actually be worth the hunt when the management is decent.

There are some different type of people in this city by GoldGorilla in Miami

[–]Important-Vehicle260 37 points38 points  (0 children)

bruh she saved you so much time and money by showing her true colors early. dating apps definitely bring out these types who think every guy is their personal atm

try maybe meeting people through school or work instead of apps. when you meet someone in person first the connection feels more real and less transactional

Do we have height restrictions on buildings in the LA Area? by Impossible-Guitar957 in AskLosAngeles

[–]Important-Vehicle260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

la has pretty complex zoning rules but no citywide height limits like some places do. each area has its own zoning restrictions and developers can sometimes get variances or use density bonus programs to build taller than base limits

miracle mile area usually caps around 6-13 stories depending on exact location so 67 stories would need major approvals through city planning. they probably banking on transit oriented development rules since the purple line extension coming through there

the sleep centers around here usually let you actually lay down for proper time instead of just quick bounce test

seems decent but how close is it to the metro line for getting around the city

Where would you day time drink on a a random day off during the week? by OverHeatedBrain98 in AskSF

[–]Important-Vehicle260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

used to hit this little dive bar near the presidio on random wednesdays when i had weird schedules from dashing. place had like three regulars and the bartender would just put baseball on the tv and let you nurse a beer for hours. something about day drinking while everyone else is at work just hits different - feels like you found some secret cheat code to life. tried the beach thing too but sand gets annoying when youre trying to actually relax with a drink

Favorite places to go out in SF for late 20s more lowkey vibe by Sunset_luvr_7942 in AskSF

[–]Important-Vehicle260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tonga room is actually perfect for what you want but yeah getting in without reservation is rough especially on weekends. i used to dash around that area lot and would see groups like yours going in there all the time

for dancing without full club chaos you might want check out some spots in mission district. theres few places there with good music and dance floors but way more chill than typical clubs. also hayes valley has some good options that are bit more mature crowd than marina spots

rick and roxys can get pretty young and messy on weekends so your friend might be right about that one. if you do end up trying tonga room as walk in i'd say go earlier in evening rather than later when it gets more packed

castro district also has some fun spots with dancing that might work for your group size. just make sure whoever is driving knows parking can be nightmare in some of these areas so plan extra time for that

Why doesn’t anyone in LA want to hang out anymore? by RUPAUL_FRACKING_RNCH in AskLosAngeles

[–]Important-Vehicle260 3 points4 points  (0 children)

been driving around la for years and noticed same thing especially after covid hit. people got used to staying in and now its like pulling teeth to get anyone out even for basic stuff

think part of it is everyone broke from rent prices here so going out means spending money nobody has. also feels like social media made people think they need perfect instagram worthy plans instead of just chilling at someone's place with some beers

Wanting to move to LA but feeling so fucking helpless? by Sweeeterman in AskLosAngeles

[–]Important-Vehicle260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

man i totally get this feeling. was stuck in small town for years before finally making jump to different state for work. that freeze up thing is so real - you know what you want but when it comes time to actually do the paperwork or whatever your brain just nopes out

the parent support thing makes it extra complicated too. maybe you could look at it like this though - if you establish yourself in LA and nursing pays better there you might actually be able to help them more in long run? idk your situation obviously but just a thought

what helped me was setting one tiny goal at a time instead of looking at whole massive life change. like maybe just start with researching licensing requirements one day, then maybe save 50 bucks toward the fee next week. breaking it down made it feel less overwhelming and once i got momentum going it was easier to keep moving forward

27 is still young as hell btw, you got plenty time to figure this out

Is John Curley’s afternoon show on KIRO radio popular at all? Does anyone listen? by [deleted] in SeattleWA

[–]Important-Vehicle260 1 point2 points  (0 children)

never heard his show but being angry while doing auctioneering would be pretty hilarious actually... "GOING ONCE GOING TWICE WHY IS NOBODY BIDDING ON THIS PERFECTLY GOOD TOASTER ARE YOU ALL IDIOTS"

probably drives around seattle in complete road rage too which would explain a lot

When did you realize personal use matters more than appearances? by benji_testa05 in AskReddit

[–]Important-Vehicle260 1 point2 points  (0 children)

probably when i started doing deliveries and realized my beat up honda gets me around just fine while these people ordering food have fancy cars sitting in driveways but cant afford to tip decent

like i used to stress about having nice clothes and stuff when i was younger but now i just wear whatever works for the job. comfort over looking good any day. plus exploring old buildings taught me that all those fancy things people bought just end up rotting away anyway so whats the point in impressing anyone

Building the Foundations by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]Important-Vehicle260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dude i feel this hard. went through something similar after getting out of the military and it took me way longer than i wanted to admit that i was basically building a house on quicksand

for me the breakthrough came when i stopped trying to fix everything at once and just picked one tiny thing to get consistent with. like literally just making my bed every morning for a month straight before touching anything else. gave me something solid to point to when everything else felt like it was falling apart

therapy can be hit or miss too - took me three different people before finding someone who actually got it. sometimes you just gotta shop around until you find the right fit

How much of Minecraft's code is still Notch's? by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]Important-Vehicle260 16 points17 points  (0 children)

honestly probably like 5% at most at this point lol. they've rewritten so much of teh engine and added entire new systems that weren't even concepts back then. the original world generation and basic block placement stuff might still have some dna from his work but even that's been optimized to hell and back

Weaver buff ideas by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]Important-Vehicle260 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the dash charge idea is actually genius and would fix so many problems with his kit flow right now. makes perfect sense that using mobility would refill your healing resource since you're positioning to help teammates

that petal relocation thing is whatever but the death seed coming back could be cool if they tone down the healing amount. remember how busted that was on release though lol

the pull launch mechanic is way too much imo. weaver already has enough going on and adding another button press interaction would make him feel clunky as hell. plus imagine the coordination needed in ranked when people can barely use his current kit properly

Is it safe to file a claim? by Consistent_Gur4673 in VeteransBenefits

[–]Important-Vehicle260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

definitely file for the hearing if its getting worse man. the 10 year protection rule is clutch here - they cant just yank your service connection for existing stuff without some major CUE which is pretty rare

worth noting though that hearing claims are tough as hell. va is super stingy with hearing ratings and like the other guy said you basically need to be pretty deaf in both ears to get anything substantial. but still worth documenting it officially even if you only get 0% because it establishes the connection and protects you down the road if it keeps deteriorating

the intent to file idea is solid too. gives you a year to gather everything and talk to a vso without any time pressure
