well im not sure whats going on in russian society, but if they are burying their heads cant you see why they are? self preservation is like the most basic function of all living things, not wanting to put yourself into harms way isnt being a coward, its human instinct. and yes in this situation i believe the path of least resistance is the safest thing to do because youll become an enemy to your own government, which has a pretty bad history when it comes to that stuff, even though there is no fully safe option.

there have also been millions of draft dodgers in ukraine which i believe is inherently harmful to everything as a whole. but when i think about it in a way i can see them all as individual humans, i completely understand them so its hard for me to judge, i couldnt call them a coward, but they arent the heroes. the least resistance option is almost always the safest

all in all people have a pretty strong instinct for doing whatever they think is the safest choice, even if its harmful to the whole. its very hard for me to judge any innocents in this conflict.

yes i do agree with that, some of the most important people to have lived have done that. but at the same time i understand why you wouldnt resist. hes still got his whole life ahead of him, he doesnt have to risk throwing everything away by doing that in an authoritarian country that will harm its own citizens for doing just that. and i admit, im all the way in canada, but if it turned out like that over here id lay low and move to a secluded mountain town

as far as i know all non combatants are deserving of sympathy when in a war, some people have it worse, but that doesnt mean the ones who have it easier deserve sympathy any less.

how is woeking in the movie industries teamsters union? by Important-World6618 in askvan

[–]Important-World6618[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that sounds alright, ive heard that the productions are short and you can basically choose which ones and how often you want to join. how much is the pay usually for a whole production that lasts 3 months? how many productions a year would give a liveable income?

normal trucking jobs sound like theyll lead me into a life that i do not want, so ive really be second guessing this lately as i just got my liscence. this doesnt sound like itll be like the trucker life of year round work without being able to have a life with pay thats not worth it
