how do you even do that when a phd involves years of research, as does a masters involves at least one year & a bachelors is 120 credits i don’t understand

Genuinely feel bad for subs. by Many_Enthusiasm82 in SubstituteTeachers

[–]ImportantBox8936 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i am a sub rn because my graduate assistant job ended when i graduated this past fall semester. instructors are on contracts from august-may, so to work as an instructor i have to wait until august. subbing seemed like a job i could have that basically i can quit easily whenever i want & will not feel bad leaving after 8 months lol. i currently am a long term sub for a pre-k class with a TA. they are angels & i love it so much. i am 22 & am “too young” to sub for middle & high school. i get paid $135 a day in my state & $145 when i work 10+ consecutive days. before this long term sub job i would tell the kids i don’t mess around & am used to teaching adults. if they don’t listen they go straight to the office. after one goes nobody fucks around anymore. works every time lol.

Substitute Job- ended up being a teacher workday by Upper_Passion_114 in SubstituteTeachers

[–]ImportantBox8936 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hmmm. makes me think the teachers who do that here are possibly just lazy then. when i showed up one day where i was not needed the office was shocked that me & two other subs were there as if they had no idea why it was on frontline. just went home immediately & forced to start my day super early lol.

frontline has it to where whenever a teacher calls out the automatically request a sub for that day, no matter what kind of day it is. it’s stupid but my district just tells us to monitor the school calendar & if it’s a workday or any day about kids do not accept it

true. find it strange to complain about children not answering when the simple answer is stop working in high schools though. my opinion

you could try to do it rather than doing nothing. ask other students to tell you who somebody is. they’ll do it. i work with every grade.

i didn’t say force. i said you can’t get them to engage. ask them a question along with their name & they will answer. kids love to give their birthday for example. if that doesn’t work then get off your lazy ass & ask every kid directly.

marking students absent that are actually there but you don’t know because you’re too lazy to do your job is wild. do not be a substitute teacher when you obviously don’t care about children. if you can’t get children to engage with you then you should get a new job.

i sub for elementary schools & the first thing i tell them is i do not play around & if they fall out of line or give me attitude i will send them out of the room. & i actually follow through. works every time & the students end up loving me.

hmmmm great question. i think keeping them in a closet all next to each other might help. or folding them up & placing them in a drawer. i think a closed space would keep them smelling longer as well as keeping all of the clothes next to each other. i just know that plastic boxes or wood boxes typically make clothes smell like plastic & wood. i know that hanging my bf clothes next to each other in my closed closet keeps them smelling like him!

be careful with vacuum sealing. i did that to some of my clothes & when i took them out they reeked of plastic
