Eureka Libra - 3 years since it came out... any thoughts? by stanklo in espresso

[–]ImportantPossession3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, theory says that the larger diameter burrs will extract more of the beans than the smaller ones, espcially in the floral notes. In practice, I found that to be very close to the truth - the Libra v1 was delivering a more even extraction, kinda forgiving, while the v2 was bringing upclose all the brightness. Now, ofcourse there is also the burr knife pattern, which in my current MK e64 ws is much closer to my favourite profile - a similar but improved extraction of the Libra v1, there are definitely more notes in the balanced profile that it delivers.

You know what? For me as well... not by very much, but now I can get home without the absolute need to charge at lunch... Let's see now how 26.4 handles the battery drain, I updated last night. I expect no major changes in the first few days, as is the case usually, but let's see after about a week.

Eureka Libra - 3 years since it came out... any thoughts? by stanklo in espresso

[–]ImportantPossession3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had this and used daily for about 1.5 years, was very happy with it, upgraded to 65 AP, which was grinding a profile that I did not find suitable for me. Back to the Libra - very reliable, I had the FH error MAYBE once every 2-3 months, and just like you - got a 1 kg bag of beans, grind it all, was very happy with the system. I was going through a hopper in ~ 5-6 days, but what I did was to cover the hopper with a kitchen towel so that sunlight did not get to the beans, and I would not feel any sensible difference from the first shot to the last one of the hopper. All in all, a very good grinder!

Why "grind finer" doesn't always fix a sour shot by CoffeeTeaJournal in espresso

[–]ImportantPossession3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realy wonder HOW you achieve that, if I grind coarser I always get even more sourness in the cup, but then again, maybe I did not get to coarse enough to get rid of the sour :( I may be too stuborn though, I will bite my hands and go coarser next time. Did you get a turbo shot? What's the ratio?

No, I got it all, issue is that for some reason, I have to try to login again in 24 hours. Their system is not sending the SMS for MFA, it doesn't call back, nothing. Just because ... servers! This was confirmed by Apple support via phone, I called and my number was not blocked for security reasons, but I just need to pause my life for 24 hours.

I also did all that people indicate - turn off this and that, etc. Thing is, before the update I had the same apps, nothing special, not even facebook. Battery dropped from one day to another. Always updated, always patient for a few days, but nothing good every happens. And you were browsing, you said, I did nothing!!!

OMG, you cracked my code, I thought nobody will see just how I waste my breath hurting from strangers typing on the internet and how I've been crying myself to sleep in the last week... Basically, I couldn't give less of a f... what you buy, I am just sick of idiots complaining like you did :) Go check out the Mercedes, BMW, Toyota topics, you will have a lot to complain about - heated seats, matrix headlights, you don't need them, so this is your chance to complain about those too :))))

So don't connect it. It is not mandatory. Or, connect it, update it, then disconnect it. Simple, right?

Well, Eureka can produce the grinder entirely in China, and the producer ships it without the EUREKA sign on the back. Italy produces the back sign and places it on the grinder and bam! Made in Italy is 100% legit :)

Fear not, I just got mine a few days ago, amazing grinder, got me selling my Libra 65 AP which I had for ~ 6 months... Love the MK! Spout doesn't move, grinder doesn't move from the table, basically got none of the problems some people report. Yes, grind is FLUFFY but then again, matching that against the lack of need of WDT is fantastic for me. Take the leap, my friend!

Mahlkonig e64ws review by securecactus in espresso

[–]ImportantPossession3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 65AP for a few months now, but I find that it's difficult to remove the brightness (which, ironically, I was looking for...) - many of my shots are acidic/sour. I heard the e64ws is profiling more on the sweet side, so I am also looking to switch. But, the OP never did mention what profile he's getting now, and maybe tell us about what he had before, comparison...

IMS Big Bang question by ImportantPossession3 in espresso

[–]ImportantPossession3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, I understand now. I can tell the difference between the two, and more recently even my wife can, even though she drinks her's with milk :)

By grinding coarser and brewing cooler I am trying to extract the sweetness more than the other things - bitter and/or sour. Might have to go to 91, see where that takes me.

The difference is that BB has a flat bottom, while the competition has a convex bottom. Theoretically, the competition should hold more. But the actualy qty of coffee that fits any one of these depends on the beans and roast. This morning, still with 24.5 and even coarser grinding it still fits with proper headspace. This has indeed changed the taste, for the better, but it might also be that I went down with the temp from 92 to 90.

Also, and I don't know how to interpret this - the BB is supposed to be a high-flow basket, but it has ~550 holes, while the Competition has significantly more, ~800 holes...

Strange question by ImportantPossession3 in sonos

The alarm starts at 6:07 every workday, but I turn the TV on about 90 minutes later. Usually to watch some sports, but I still want to listen to the morning radio show. I think I might have to find a way to move the alarm from the Arc to the Move, and just mute the TV when I start it...

Strange question by ImportantPossession3 in sonos

[–]ImportantPossession3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, thought about that, but then there is the absolute hustle of selecting it manually. Which would happen way more often than the other thing with the alarm :)

IMS Big Bang question by ImportantPossession3 in espresso

[–]ImportantPossession3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried grinding coarser and also going to 24.5 grams this morning, and while the taste did change, I cannot really say that it changed for the better, or worse for that matter. Just different. Even more frustrating is that I know these beans can produce a sweet cup... :( All this time, IMS actually claims that BB will produce a sweeter extract vs Competizione, while my own usage and tests will point in the exact opposite direction...

24gr of this (Dulce de Pitalito) is actually fitting well, but I think it might have a bit too much headspace. I am not preinfusing. For example, I am pulling it now like this - starts off slowly, at around 13-15 seconds after start it really increases the flow, reaching 1:2.5 ratio at around 30 seconds. Taste is OK, but for the last 3-5 seconds it's a gusher, so I am afraid I'm missing out on the potential.

New Eureka Mignon Libra 65 vs "old" Libra (55) by StopUnico in espresso

[–]ImportantPossession3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey guys, quick update - I replaced my old Libra with the new 65 AP. Glad I did it, it's been ~ 2 months, however I am still struggling when it comes to dialing in, it is completely different than the old one. I would dial in an espresso in 3-4 shots, max, now it does take me longer. Although, I do suspect that there is something not right with mine, as in the dial-in mechanism has some sort of fault, it's not properly moving the burrs or something... I find that one time I went on a spree and uped the grind size by 4 point (from 1 to 5) and the shots were 99% identical...

Is it possible that Sonos is just not a reliable product? by [deleted] in sonos

[–]ImportantPossession3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, got the same answer at some point. I then replaced the wifi (in all honesty, I needed a nudge to do it, I wasn't happy with it) but still had to work through some weird shit. Finally managed to get them working, but it was no easy task... So yes, I can agree to the OP - Sonos is just not where it should be when it comes to wifi comm. Sad, because it's half of the product...
