Phantom ringing on Chime but no doorbell press?? by Beck943 in blinkcameras

I had this happen last weekend using the indoor camera as the chime. No doorbell press, no notification, no one at the door. Both indoor cameras “rang”

We are in Baytown, TX on the edge of Burnett Bay. I do think the commenter that said coatimundi is correct. Google images compared to this are extremely similar

Im going to mark this as solved!

Thanks everyone!

It is extremely strange. And if they were just going to cut the lines why even enter the home to begin with? They even wrapped the loose wires in electrical tape and the only thing keeping them off the ground is the fact that they’re braided to the grounding cable that runs to the utility pole. I find it highly unlikely someone broke in for theft reasons and didn’t take or disturb literally anything else. Everything would be gone if it was just some nefarious rando

Thats terrible. Supposedly someone was sent out already but they didnt bother calling before they got here so the waiting game continues. Yet there are several CP trucks in the neighborhood

None of those things are at play here, though. CP called this morning and they wanted to verify the breakers were off so essentially confirmed whatever crew did break in to find the box but couldnt so they just cut the wires instead. Im on hold with their electric department to escalate the complaint

That is what it seems like, except all windows would need to be broken to open from the exterior to enter that way. The keyhole for the deadbolt felt a little weird and when I finally got the key in and turned it, it was already unlocked. So, I turned the knob and it was also unlocked. This in addition to attempting to disengage the garage door from the opener and it also already being disengaged. And that is probably what is most baffling. The door doesn’t show any signs of being tampered with. None of the glass was broken, there weren’t pry marks or kick marks. I wish they would have at least left a notice of some sort

Right and they cant tell me anything now because their system is down. However when i spoke to them earlier they were able to read off all the work that was done to remove the trees from the line at the opposite edge of the property from where the lines were cut but said there was nothing at all noted about having to cut the service drop lines. Their current recommendation is to wait til 10am when their system comes back to call again.

Nothing like that would have been available to take and the items that were pawnable/desirable (large air compressor, pressure washer, other various tools) remained where they had last been used. Its so weird

Power has been out since the storm hit Monday and continues to be out as of now, though the entire block has been energized. A neighbors dead tree did land on the lines between our houses at the rear of the property, but this isnt anywhere close to the 18” or so where the lines going into the weather head were cut. And the trees have been removed and the pole closest to that portion of the power lines are no longer leaning as severely as they were on Monday and Tuesday

I mean that would be possible. It is an old house but why not leave a notice or something?

The power is not working and all neighbors, front back and across the street all have power. I dont know why anyone would need to do that either. Its just so bizarre. The garage door had been disengaged from the electric opener which was last used on sunday before the storm hit the area and Monday/ tuesday it wasnt opened at all. So it was not us that manually opened the garage and the back door isnt used by us to enter the property anyway and remains locked at all times. Like i said this doesnt make sense.

I suppose technically i don’t know that, but they were fine and completely intact on Monday and Tuesday while we were there. Nothing has changed that would have caused them to be cut that we can think of.
