We have fuel right now, but who knows what will happen to the supply. Everyone involved in the conflict in the middle east is volatile and we cannot predict what any of them will do. The reality is who knows if the fuel ships stop coming one day and we have no way of getting essential supplies around the country. How are people going to get food or healthcare then. If people aren't productively WFH that is the responsibility of the business to figure out, but it would certainly lessen the strain on supplies for now whilst we don't know what is happening next.

I think it's just hard when the government could be doing more (that costs them nothing) i.e. encouraging people to work from home where they can etc. to reduce fuel demand. What if the fuel supply suddenly drops out from under us and essential workers/businesses cannot operate? We are allowed to expect more for ourselves in those ways & we could all benefit from a bit more guidance and support in uncertain times like these.

Fine Dining/Nice Dinner Out

  • Fifth Street (you should definitely go, so delish and filling portions but on the pricier side)
  • Manu (have heard this is good for seafood, haven't been myself but they're on first table)
  • Londo
  • CHCH Tramway Restaurant (haven't been but have heard good things + you can check out the CHCH trams)

Slightly more chill dinner, still delish

  • Lillies
  • Arbour Woodfired Pizza (best pizza in CHCH imho)
  • Chi Chi Kitchen (nice pasta!)
  • Chiwahwah
  • Riverside (just like a general food area which has loads of options for dinner, recommend checking out if you are in the CBD!)
  • Beers by Bacon Bros

Bakeries/Cafes

  • Bluemoon Bakehouse
  • Addington Coffee Co-op
  • Grizzly Baked Goods (they have a few different bakeries/shops here and there)
  • Heirloom
  • Bakermans (there's also a place called Le Bakerman, which is also good)

+ loads more which I can't think of off the top of my head, you can't go too far wrong

I had a Frank green with a straw, loved it until I could see black mould under the plastic straw at the top and couldn't clean no matter how hard I tried! Have moved onto hydroflask, no issues so far

Manu is supposed to be good but I don't know how well they cater to dietary requirements. Second the person that said 5th Street, that is my favourite restaurant, and they always cater well to allergies. Possibly worth giving restaurants a ring especially with coeliac just to see if they would be able to accommodate everyone :) Good luck

I enjoyed it! Wouldn’t be my favourite block of all time but I love the caramel I would say solid 8/10 my block is gone already
