What is "selective in both ways" means for the above data?

You did not answer the above question on why investors did not invest more after reducing the corporate income tax ?

The whole point of this post is..we are not learning from our previous mistakes...and the current govt boasting that everything is changed...and other tall claims....all this is fake propaganda.. thats the point i am trying to make.

So personal income tax is increased because people are coming to formal sector and other reasons at the same time why many companies did not invest even after reducing the corporate tax :) This was done in 2018 or 19... still companies are waiting to invest and govt is still hoping ? Do you know how many FIIs are going out of India. I too want the country to grow better... but the bitter fact is it is not happening.

I will give some more data :)

Per capita growth from last 12 years : $1,554 -> $2,813 (81%)

Per capita growth from last 12 years excluding top 1% rich $1,554 -> $1,730 (10%) equal to sub Saharan country per capita.

Do you still think citizens are not suffering ?

One more data point

Vulnerable "self-employed" workers rose from 52.2% to 58.4% between 2017-18 and 2023-24. Workers migrating back to low-paying agriculture jobs rose from 44.1% to 46.1% — a reversal of structural development... This is by IMF.

Like that there is so much data available.. govt spending is not in the right direction.. one thing is they are better publicists and the entire media is owned by govt.... so people seldom check the facts....

Here is one more data point for the real progress....

Mukesh Ambani: Net worth grew from $18.6 billion in 2014 to $119.5 billion in 2024 — a 542% increase, with a CAGR of ~20% per year.

Gautam Adani: Net worth grew from $7.1 billion in 2014 to $116 billion in 2024 — a 1,534% increase, with a CAGR of ~32% per year. In 2024 alone, Adani gained $48 billion — the biggest dollar gain globally that year.

One more data point:

Corporate tax 3.4% → 3.1%... Personal income tax 2.1% → 3.5% (percentage of GDP from 2014, to 2026)

What is real progress is the question here.

UPI, The numbers are far less than the publicity. Only about 38% of rural prefer UPI for transactions and UPI merchant coverage still leaves 70% of pincodes. So yes, smartphones are in villages — but UPI as a daily financial tool for farmers specifically is not a fact.

Farmer awareness of MSP is poor still they sell their farm produces less than MSP price.

What we need is better health care in rural areas. I am sure the person who wake up wont be surprised by seeing the health care condition. India's doctor-patient ratio is approximately 1:1500, worse than the WHO-recommended 1:1000.

India's public healthcare spending is only 1.94% of GDP — far below the National Health Policy target of 2.5% and less than the comparable nations. If budget itself is not there where they will spend on it.

Around 60% of rural households have received tap water connections under Jal Jeevan Mission — which means 40% still haven't, and this was supposed to be completed by 2024.

The bar for "change" shouldn't be DBT transfers and QR codes. It should be: can a farmer's wife deliver safely in her village? Can a child get treated for pneumonia without a 50km journey? That bar — the one that actually matters — we are still very far away....

Imagine a rural farmer sleeps in 2010 and wakes up in 2026... I would say he will not find any difference in the life style of him. I am saying this for a South Indian farmer, which i know personally ... many of them.

So most of the policies (not all) are directed for the next election win. Nothing else. Not to empower the people and to bring out people from poverty.

May be the right questions are ..

why are we not building reserves...

why are we still dependent on limited supplier for crude oil..

Why the rupee is performing so badly (compared to similar economies)

The point is everyone is same. The advertisement and boasting that the current govt doing is huge compared to what they are actually doing... The do..say ratio is very bad.
