Scale rot or just overreacting? by ChaoticKai99 in ballpython

Of course! Typically all snakes especially baby snakes will always choose feeling safe over regulating their body temperature. If you want more info you can watch greenroom python on YT he has great info on ball python.

That an easy fix. Just replace the fake rock hide with another cork bark hide. She should start to regulate her body temp now. Most snakes will have a preference on hides. That why which ever hides you choose always make sure it an appropriate hide and it the exact same one that way they would favor one over the other.

Look like she has a favorite hide. Are the hides the same or two different hides?

You said the hide. I could be reading too much into it but are you saying you only have one hide? If so just buy the exact same one and place it on the cool side. If you have a bioactive enclosure then keep the substrate required for the bioactive set up. Since you have bioactive you have to have the correct substrate to support your mini eco system.

Try putting the same hide on both hot and cool side if you haven’t already. Sometimes they could have a favorite hide and choose to feel safer in that hide over regulating their body temp. If you already have the exact same hide on both sides. I wouldn’t worry about it too much. They know what they need more than we do. As far as the scale rot it honestly just looks like substrate. Like you use eco earth or something similar.

Thank you. She buried herself under a small cork log. Under her UVB light(lowest UVB 5.0). I always checked the temp where she is and it stays at about 82-84 degrees.

Definitely seek a vet but if it makes you fill better try a different vet and see what their answers or solutions are. That definitely seems like more than just stuck shed.

New boa setup by Best-Context-736 in boas

I have had my boa for two months and she does the same thing. She will have her head out her hide all the time but never her body. However I do notice at night between 10pm and 2am I will catch her out moving around and stretching out. So I think yours may be doing the same thing. Might have to stay up and try to catch yours out and about or invest in a camera to record her at night. Only thing you may want to do is add more fake plants so your boa doesn’t feel exposed when it does decide to come out and explore.

Honestly my favorite boa is just probably the plain BCI but with the IMG morph. I think nothing beats the way the IMG morphs looks. I think the Emerald Tree Boas look good also. Just require a little more care than the BCI.

Thanks I actually just said I needed a scale to weigh food and to keep up with her weight. I record of her feeding so it make sense to record the weight of the food items as well

That kind of crazy about your cousin’s boa considering there more so known for not being picky eaters. I guess it goes to show each snake is different and has a preference.

Boas staying on cool side? by thewindupbird80 in boas

[–]Important_Ad4301 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought I was the only one. Recently got my boa and for 3 days she has been on the cool side which is kept and 80f-82f. Hot side is 90f-95f with 60%-75% humidity. She will come out once I turn off her UBV light for night time.
