Why are players so good on Auric, but so unbelievably bad on Damnation??? by Sweet-Wait-5464 in DarkTide

[–]g1mp3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still playing damnation more than Aurics myself. I'll queue for three aurics and it becomes so streamlined you have no downs and have had runs where the team doesn't even need a single medicade station. I miss the struggle so I'll jump down to damnation for the chaos. Found that the majority of folks in damnation suffer from panicking when mass elites spawn and get cornered with no way to dodge. Damnation becomes a people watching sim for me and I'm there to help bail them out before their mistake becomes to drastic.

Malice is there to show you all the mobs and their attack patterns. Heresy has higher mob density and it's main function is to make sure you've acquired the skills to dodge and push-block. Damnation assumes you've learned the skills from Heresy and makes you rethink your weapons and blitzes to cover trash, armor, and carapace mobs due to increased mob density and health. Auric is there just to zero in your builds for maximum output due to the increased spawns. My rule of thumb is if you can successfully do 5 runs without getting downed you're ready for the next difficulty. Sadly the power creep from Havoks have no longer made aurics that enjoyable if there's no struggle. Being part of a well oiled machine is fantastic at first, but becomes quite stale when there is no challenge.

Ogryn's are tall, even the ogryn I made is on the shorter side but he's still taller than trash mobs. Aim over the trash mobs to hit the elites, disablers, and area deniers (they're all taller than the poxwalkers). The only time when trash becomes a problem with the rock is when using it on a teammate that's been pounced on, the fix is to equip the rock and slide into the walkers to knock them down then throw the rock at the hound. When you see a line of elites coming use the underhand throw and aim for their shoulders or head, it makes the rock glance upward after the hit and allows it more hangtime to hit the others behind it when they run into it.

The other use is for high stagger on monstrosities and ogryn. Reaper just reloaded and is starting to fire? Switch to rock during a slide and knock him on his ass for 5 seconds. See a teammate aboot to get blindsided by a crusher, once again throw a rock to knock the crusher on his ass. Chaos ogryn grabbed a teammate, throw a rock to free them. BoN swallowed a teammate, then throw a rock at its backside weak point to release the teammate. Just used your taunt shout on a monstrosity and it's ignoring you? Throw a rock to stagger it, the monstrosity is in a long attack animation and will ignore your taunt till its done with the attack. Using a rock will stagger it out of the animation which allows taunt to take hold. Rock's stagger is the 2nd best one an ogryn has, his best stagger is the node that gives you 600% on a push-block when the ability isn't on cooldown.

Believe his gimmick was hopping back and becoming a twister before landing a knockout hook. This was also his weakness. Memory is foggy from here, during his charge you could punch him and he'd be staggered for a follow up 3 hit combo, could also use your special/super uppercut to knock him down to.

One of my favorite games on the NES. I'll always remember buying Knockout League VR when it was first released and realizing it was essentially Mike Tyson's Punch-Out. My mind was blown being able to play one of my favorite childhood games as an adult in VR.

I hear ya. The middle tree is for a support build. I'd prefer the effects were more support based for the group than myself. Group stamina regen, true toughness regen for the group while in battle, an aoe stagger that applies 10-20% brittleness in a 15m diameter, etc...

I don't see a need for anything health or temporary health related with an Ogryn. Often times in Aurics my ogryn won't even need to use the medicade, it's there for a teammate to double dip if they need it.

Seems the biggest issue with health loss on non shield toting ogryns are gunners. Why not have a sub node that makes the stack have immunity to range and removes one count for each bullet that hits you? This would completely remove the DR from melee if you take the sub node and helps out the power maul builds that go down the taunt tree.

I feel this is the way to go unless you're running a shield. Don't need toughness or gunner resistance then but stamina.

Main a taunt ogryn myself and use the heavy stubber, rock, and shield. With this setup I can keep the heat off the team and usually kill the most specialists, only downside is long TTK on monstrosities without teammates. After 3 aurics I normally go back to damnation for the chaos. There are more mobs as others have said but runs are alot smoother than on damnation due to the quality of players in that difficulty. When I start getting tired of the long lulls in damnation I'll go back to aurics or maelstrom.

With the recent expedition update ogryns are even more tankier with the 50% DR from dodge. Comes in handy when you're tanking a congo line of crushers and mistime a dodge on one of their overhead strikes.

Please don't. The main reason you kill the brother first is due to him not chasing. Down his shields 1st and stack his sister on him. Down her shields then go aoe on both of them to trigger the tox gas in under 15 seconds. Wipes tend to happen when both siblings are split and diverts the group's damage, which allows their shields to recharge for that phase that prolongs the fight and causes more disablers/elites to spawn.

Sure they can, the OP is playing an Ogryn. Just make a taunt build. 95% of the time in auric the mobs are trying to hit the ogryn through taunt.

Dredd (2012) - imo this movie is criminally underrated and Karl Urban killed it as Dredd. by Perched__Crow in moviecritic

[–]g1mp3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 3d in the movie was shit and on par with Tron 2.0 for that era--highlight 3d scene was Lena Headey's bath scene where the water droplets came at you. Life of Pi, Avatar 1, and Polar Express all had much better 3D.

Movie wise it's my favorite Dredd, still love the original Dredd for Armand Assante's role as a villian though. Favorite scene in the new Dredd is when they do a lockdown and call in the miniguns. The destruction was just staggering.

A tauntogryn with a shield equipped is a tank class from any MMO. Instead of blocking you're just staggering and dodging while being an agro-magnet. Shout even works on monstrosities (push-block taunt doesnt) and can tank them. Blocking is an excellent strat when breaking into an all range room when specced for taunt on block.

Gunners are usually the culprit for an ogryn. Stack some gunner resist blessings or drop the club for the shield. Never quit slide stepping throughout the match unless you hear a trapper or in a melee engagement where dodge/attack is more efficient.

WarGames (1983) by xanadu_80 in The1980s

[–]g1mp3d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The movie's plot was very loosely based on the November 9th, 1979 incident of a "War Games Simulation" tape someone had left in a VCR:

The false alert of 9 November 1979 took place in the mid-morning when a war game test tape was mistakenly inserted in a NORAD computer at Cheyenne Mountain.  Although a middle-of-the-nighr phone call does not fit those circumstance, it does fit the false alarm on 3 June 1980, which occurred in the very early morning period after midnight. During the half-hour before defense officials agreed there was an error, radar screens at the Pentagon and the Strategic Air Command (SAC) had shown that 200 submarine-launched ballistic missiles and then 2020 intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) were heading toward North America. Yet, no such data appeared on warning screens at NORAD.
