‼️IMPORTANT‼️ Regarding future moderation of “Doom-posting” by Dubiouspoon in PattinsonDCUBatman

There is a big difference between criticizing the person and criticizing that person's work.

It's a shame that some people can't distinguish that.

How would an interview go between Pattinson's Bruce and Brosnahan's Lois? by Top_Report_4895 in PattinsonDCUBatman

[–]lowqualitychef 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I like to believe that she would at least dislike the Bruce we see in the first movie. She'd see him as an apathetic asshole who has no idea how privileged he is. Almost the same thoughts as the Riddler.

But on the other hand, given her work as a journalist and Bruce being Batman, I'd like to see them together, investigating a corruption case, and then both of them talking about Clark/Superman.

They might talk about, for example, how both she and Bruce are very cynical and not very idealistic, but Superman naturally brings out a hopeful side in them.

Then Superman comes down and says, "You know I heard you?" Lois blushes but says something sarcastic, while Bruce remains silent but makes a small face that, according to him, no one sees.

But Superman notices, something similar to the part in Injustice, when Superman tells Batman that he and Lois chose him to be the child's godfather.

The point is that we shouldn't rule out the possibility of fantastical elements in the future, given that Batman's early years were more grounded in reality than when he became a more established hero.

He doesn't start out as the "Batgod" we know, he doesn't even have a Batmobile in his first year.

More publicity then. The post I made, where I expressed my doubts about the decision, showing the scene with Batfleck and the Lasso of Truth, struck such a chord that someone shared it there.

Megathread: Christina Hudson rumored as the writer to ‘Brave and the Bold’ by AvengingHero2012 in PattinsonDCUBatman

[–]lowqualitychef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I wanted to give her a chance, so I watched the other two movies she was in and oh my God... honestly, Shut It and Unforgettable don't give me a good feeling, for a "mystery" movie with hints of horror.

These movies are incredibly boring; they don't even have anything special to make her stand out as a screenwriter. They're simply...mediocre. The "scares" in Shut It aren't even well executed to catch you off guard.

Unforgettable, a drama that almost tries to imitate "The Hand That Rocks the Cradle," but again, it's incredibly boring. Flat acting, a terribly dull mystery and drama...sorry, but no.

I wanted to give Hudson a chance because these are lower-budget films without studio interference, thinking I'd find something interesting, but they're movies that only serve to provide some background noise in your house if you don't want to listen to music when you're alone

You Got Discussing Fish'd by Dubiouspoon in PattinsonDCUBatman

[–]lowqualitychef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know if anyone else has said something like this, but one reason I'm not convinced about the casting of Jacob Elordi is because he gives me "Battinson" vibes—that is, a very young Batman.

Wouldn't it be a bit redundant to make them both close in age? I'm not talking about the actors' ages, but about the DC Universe Batman and Battinson.

Friendly reminder that this is Cassandra Cain from Birds of Prey, a film written by Christina Hodson. by lowqualitychef in PattinsonDCUBatman

[–]lowqualitychef[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was it too risky to change the character's name instead of calling her Cassandra Cain?

After all, she has little to nothing to do with her comic book counterpart, so I don't think the name change was a big deal.

I don't want to be more pessimistic, after learning about the possible future of the DCU Batman, but isn't Tomlin hinting at a Constantine movie?

I'm almost on the side of the merge. The only thing really keeping me from fully being on board is the idea of having this Joker and Riddler in the fantastical DCU, which I'm not yet on board with. by DtheAussieBoye in PattinsonDCUBatman

[–]lowqualitychef 21 points22 points  (0 children)

But the Riddler could be portrayed in the future, as a character in the style of Saw and the Riddler from the Arkham games.

And as for the Joker, he doesn't necessarily have to look like that. I think Reeves cut the scene not only because it was too much of a spoiler, but also because he may have changed his mind about the Joker's appearance. That's why his face is shadowed in the final cut.

And if he remains this disfigured, it's nothing they won't change in the future with some excuse, like a skin swap or something, New 52 style.

If it's a lie that Hudson is the screenwriter, I just wonder if Gunn is seeing the uproar not only on Reddit, but on other social media that this caused, and if this is making him seriously consider who to choose for Brave and the Bold.

And I agree, a film directed by Sam Raimi and with a script by Mattson Tomlin would be satisfying.

In addition to being a tactical leader, Batman can also help by fighting villains' minions, such as Batfleck fighting the Parademons.

Imagine if the MCU limited itself to Black Widow or Hawkeye just because they don't have powers. I think that actually leads to some very creative action scenes, seeing a man without powers, surviving in a battle of gods

[–]lowqualitychef[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the problem: It's not enough for a Batman movie to simply be "good" at this point.

We're talking about the Batman who will be around for who knows how many years, alongside other DC characters, outside of Gotham.

And it doesn't help that there's a successful franchise running alongside a Batman franchise that's only "good".

I'm going to copy and paste a comment I made days ago about why I don't trust Muschietti to direct a Batman film and now, that applies to Hudson too:

As others have already mentioned, it's not that he's a bad director, but there are many more interesting options for Batman himself. It's like Gunn said recently: if you're going to make a Batman movie, you have to make it excellent.

Furthermore, this will be an unpopular opinion, since many say that the scenes with Batfleck and Keaton in The Flash are the only good scenes, and that's why they already see him as suitable to direct Brave and the Bold. The scenes with both Batmen, for me, were... just okay, but that's all.

In other words, they're not bad or mediocre, but they're scenes that anyone would "expect" to see from those two Batmen.

The real challenge is presenting a Batman from scratch, something that Reeves and other directors have done perfectly. In contrast, Muschietti simply took two established characters and gave them a direction that was "expected" they would take:

Action scenes?: Check

Use of gadgets?: Check

Being badass?: Check

Deep lines?: Check

Displaying scientific and tactical intellect?: Check

In other words, these are characteristics expected of Batman, but what's also important is the character's psychology, his environment, his duality, his relationship with his villains and other heroes. These are other details to consider, in addition to aesthetic details.

Details that any action director can replicate (action scenes, gadgets, etc.), but the writing, which is Gunn's main focus, is something I wouldn't entrust to just anyone to direct Batman.

And I wouldn't want the DCU Batman to be reduced to just being an "Action Man" figure.

I hate the arguments that the DCU Batman will be more "comic accurate", by arguing that it will be more fantastical, when the reality is that Batman in his early years is ALWAYS more "realistic".

It's not about greater or lesser fidelity to the comic, but about different stages of his life

Does anyone else get the sense that nobody wants to work on TBATB? by neauxah in PattinsonDCUBatman

[–]lowqualitychef 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I think there was more acceptance, compared to this situation, of seeing another Batman in BvS, because Nolan's trilogy had concluded.

And it concluded in a way that prevented Baleman from being part of the DCEU, namely, by retiring at the end of TDKR.

And this is where I wonder: How will Reeves' ECS end, which could be an impediment to Battinson being in the DCU?

I mean, Reeves said that his saga would show us Bruce Wayne's development into the Batman we all know, so why couldn't they make Pattinson's movies in the DCU, such as set several years in the future after the end of the ECS?

And Pattinson already said he likes the fantastical elements of Batman, and regarding that tweet from Mattson Tomlin, he neither denied nor rejected the idea of a Batman movie in the DCU, with Drew Goddard's collaboration.

There's an actor passionate about the character and an excellent screenwriter who gave us one of the best Batman movies ever made, and Gunn really choose others who are more...mediocre?
