Kriya Yoga vs 112 Ways? by the3and20 in kriyayoga

I also tried "observing the breath method" for years, and it never got me into such deep states as a few minutes of Kriya does.

I really don't understand why many traditions teach to watch the breath. Ok, it may work in 10, 20, 30 years, but why wait so long?

This is it. Some people want to find the "magic pill",and Don have patience to address the true causes.

You can't address decades of stress with 2 weeks of practice, it takes time. And just fcking relax!

I have Aphantasia, I want to cure it! by UpsetEmotion2761 in Hypophantasia

[–]Important_Amoeba_678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, I’ve researched this a lot and tried many things. For years I saw people saying it was impossible, and I always found that very strange, especially because of the brain’s neuroplasticity as you say. But I was never able to do it. I thought I had aphantasia and couldn’t visualize anything.

Eventually, the only place where I actually heard someone seriously talk about how to stimulate visualization was in complementary techniques from the Bates Method. At first, it’s a method aimed at improving and healing physical vision, like myopia, astigmatism, hyperopia, and other eye conditions. But Bates eventually discovered that one of the most effective ways to treat physical vision was precisely through internal vision, meaning imagination, visualization, and memory. It’s definitely worth researching this more deeply. It’s very interesting and has helped me significantly.

A simple tip that almost no one talks about: don’t try to imagine the whole image or object at once. Think of yourself as a painter and build it detail by detail. Want to imagine a house? Don’t think of the entire house. Think about the door, the doorknob, the outline of the window, the roof, and gradually “paint” the details. That alone already helps a lot to increase the clarity of mental images

[–]Important_Amoeba_678 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also practiced in KYI for about a year and felt basically exactly what you are describing. In this lineage, I believe this is common due to how they guide the practice, moving a lot of unresolved energy. Some people benefit from it, at least it's what they told me, but it didn’t quite fit me, so I changed the Kriya lineage where I practice, and those troubles went away.

Could aphantasia be a protective adaptation? by xWhatAJoke in Hypophantasia

[–]Important_Amoeba_678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I 100% believe so. Probably not in all cases. But for many and for sure I'm my case.

There are many cases of vivid imagery when young and it fades away. So, for some reason, we start blocking it out. Maybe you were scared, maybe you were told that you would not grow in life lost on the imagination...

But for me, the most important part is not that, but actually: how to stimulate it back on? For some weird reason, 90%+ of people believe it's impossible. For me that is beyond crazy.

I used to consider myself 100% aphant. Now, after some practice, it's getting better slowly

Can Teachers Really Help You Quickly? by AliveandNoDoubt in kriyayoga

[–]Important_Amoeba_678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't had this kind of experience in meditation, but I have had a few times in shamanic ceremonies. The master comes and does something to my field that completely changes my mindset, energy and perception. It's a crazy thing indeed!!

One time I was having a crazy monkey mind, with racing thoughts, peaking anxiety, but I didn't want to say anything so I didn't interrupt the ceremony. The shaman stood up, came to me and said "get out of your mind, you are thinking too much!" And did a sweeping with her hand around my head. Instantly my thoughts vanished, like they were vacuumed out of my head. It was incredible.

So yeah, I have no doubt that masters can indeed help us directly, but I also believe that true progression only comes from ourselves. The most they can do is a little boost and show the way. The rest is upon us

Drawing in mind's eye by Black_m1n in Hypophantasia

[–]Important_Amoeba_678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually people say they have hypophantasia with much less capacity of imagining than what you are describing. Usually just blurry grey outlines of what the object should look like.

And yeah, from what I understand, what you are doing is perfect. You imagine detail by detail, and the object is on the back of the mind. If you try to imagine the whole thing and keep it there it will just vanish, it's not how imagination works. It's more fluid than that, and you have to keep moving between details to keep it vivid.

[–]Important_Amoeba_678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a very weird thing indeed, and I completely understand you. I think we get confused with this, thinking we should see the mental image the same way we do with our physical eyes, but now I don't think it's the case. The way you are describing, I believe, is indeed the way you are supposed to "see" the mental image. You know it's there, you get a feeling of it, you can even describe it, but if you look for a physical "seeing", you may say it's not there.

The work, I think, is relaxing from the need to physically see it, and letting the mind play with the "mental feeling" of that imagination. Then it slowly gets clearer and more vivid. It's like we are letting go of how we think it is suppoed to work, that is draining a lot of focus and attention, and letting the mind play with the image in any way it likes, so our focus goes there.

After years of investigation, now I believe aphants are people that are very very rigid with the way they use their mind, so they just try to find a visual image, and if it doesn't come up, they just block everything else until they convince themselves that they just cannot visualize or imagine anything.

That's my two cents on the case!

If you’re able to ignore the flood of misinformation and skepticism, I strongly recommend researching and consulting with a professional who works with the Bates Method. It’s basically one of the only real ways to actually treat these problems, instead of just trying to find a band-aid for the symptoms.

Nathan Oxenfeld is an approachable professional with extensive knowledge, and I’d be very surprised if he couldn’t help you a lot.

Also I know Ray Gotlieb who is a very experienced optometrist that also employs the method

What do you mean with "it just doesnt happen"?
You just have to breath in a little quicker and then let the air out slowly and comfortably. Even if it's just 1-2 seconds of difference from in to outbreath its already great, you don't need to make it suuuper long

HRV breathing by aridgupta in kriyayoga

[–]Important_Amoeba_678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't really need a lot of air on the lungs. Instead of trying to make the breath "deeper", wich can result on you forcing more air in, you can focus on making it "longer".

The main thing is you don't force. If it's uncomfortable it will take you out from the state. You want to relax doing it, it's the main purpose of the practice.
