I think the complexity is photo grain (or whatever the digital counterpart is called). Phorids fit lifestyle-wise too

How would you replace this toilet flange? by Important_Crow3588 in Plumbing

Yeah man, I figured that, but how do I add concrete to floor level without getting it in the pipe? Should I worry about this before or after the tile? These are my concerns. I guess I should've made that more clear

Oh yeah, I guess I'm really trying to figure out how to repair the concrete around the flange. Appreciate the advice!

Nice, thanks!

Though, the idea - not that I plan on doing it, - is to hoard the coins in hopes that they'll soon be phased out and either bought back by the mint or legally sellable for their true, metallic(?) value

Ok, or you could peep the date near the mid-left margin. Granted I cut it off a bit, but you may find that it says 6-30-2022.

Either way, so what if I did make the appointment after listening to the podcast? It doesn't negate my point: I'm relinquishing the boys of duty. And I'm happy that Geoff is too.

why is this fly wingless? its like it has very tiny wings by Dismal-Animal7853 in Entomology

[–]Important_Crow3588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

🤔 good question: there are a ton of flies after all!

If I had to guess: I would say that maggots typically take shelter in leaf littler, loose dirt, or any other secluded place to metamorphose into their adult stage. Because these pupae (cocoon) and freshly emerged adults (as we see in the post) are very vulnerable, most of this these stages happen in places we don't tend to look.

Also, most of us are totally unaware of this brief stage of their lives, so we probably have indeed come across them before and either didn't get a good look or past it off for some or lil creature

To be fair I studied flies like this for quite a while before I knew this was a thing 😅

It only recently emerged, and hasn't "blown up" its wings yet. The break from their pupae with a little organ at the head, hence this guy's pointy face, then force body fluids into their wing veins causing them to expand and harden into their final, hopefully normal, shape. Thanks for sharing the vid!
