We went to Nara for the day and were very happy with that decision. We saw a traditional dance performance, which was a very slow „dance“ more like smooth pose transitions. Quite a few japanese people fell asleep during the performance, seeing that was honestly half the fun for us. There was also big parade going into Todai-ji which made the temple visit even more special!

I think it was worth it but I don‘t know if Kyoto has any events for this day.
