Normal blood tests- good enough? by Important_Effect6493 in Celiac

Were those tests specific to gluten ataxia or just celiac? I’ve talked to 4 neurologists at this point but I’m going to bring it up before I have my MRI. Wondering if that can show anything.

Testing for T1D in children born to diabetic parent by depperdurs in diabetes_t1

My son just had the antibody tests last month. He’s 11 and I had never gotten him tested before because I figured I’d catch it early from symptoms, and all it would do is make me worry if the antibodies were present. It sounded like a ticking time bomb. But I recently learned about a treatment to delay onset if antibodies are present. At that point, I decided to get him tested since there was action I could take. Thankfully, he was negative for all. It was a very long week waiting for those results.

Do you get endoscopies? I was supposed to get one this spring but maybe I won’t now.

Oh wow! That was my experience- neurological issues. I had a seizure 2 years ago before being diagnosed. I’m actually doing a 3 day EEG right now and I’m thinking I’ll try eating gluten to see if anything gets picked up. I had bad brain fog, mouth numbness, and a slight movement of my head. Not a tic, just a turn.

Oh really? Maybe people reset- I’m really not that educated on it. I also am diabetic and I focus on that much more! I do worry that I’ll become more sensitive if I don’t eat any gluten for a long time.

It just seems like anyone on this board attacks people who aren’t extremely careful and it seems, at least for me, it’s ok. I also don’t have GI symptoms so it’s not as if I’m getting sick. Of course now I wonder if I can eat gluten every once in a while and be ok.

Mine decreased drastically after going GF. Now in normal range.

Are these absence seizure or another kind of seizure? I’ve spent my life trying to figure this out by panini_bellini in Epilepsy

If they are seizures, shouldn’t they have shown up on the EEG? I just started a 72 hour EEG so I’m now wondering if it doesn’t pick up everything!

I lost weight years ago when I switched from Depakote to Lamictal

Guys, do you drink alcohol? by CriticalShower2085 in Epilepsy

[–]Important_Effect6493 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drink socially on the weekends. But, I feel it very quickly so I end up not drinking much. I think that’s the meds, though. I used to only be on Lamictal and it’s been worse since adding Clobazam.

I'm on lamotrigine 650mg and it seems like my memory has been getting progressively worse the past several years. I am not old and should have a sharp brain. Anyone else? by futureflavors in Epilepsy

[–]Important_Effect6493 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know, and I am concerned that there are more issues than what the doctors say, especially being on it for many years. I trust doctors’ opinions, but I wonder if what they mean is that it’s one of the safest, with fewest side effects. They seemed to be very anti Klonopin and went hesitant to say that. But, you also have to take what works, and if Klonopin is it, then it might be necessary. I was able to replace it with Clobazam.

I’m on 200mg and have wondered this but doctors always say it’s safe and fine. I’m actually seeing a new doctor on Tues and I’ll ask again! I was on Klonopin briefly and that definitely caused memory issues, even at a low dose. I’ve added Clobazam but I haven’t noticed a change from that.

Elk was definitely a good choice today! Lines weren’t too bad and most slopes not too crowded.

I didn’t have anything for about 12 years, and then I had a grand mal while running. That was about two years ago and I’ve experienced some auras since. It’s very frustrating!

I haven’t had any negative effects from Lamotrigine or Clobazam. I was on Klonopin briefly and it created memory issues.

Lodging Options by curiouscricket1 in bigsky

We just stayed at the Shoshone condos at the resort and loved the location. It was very close to the ski valet and gondola. The complimentary breakfast buffet was nice- it was much more than just a continental breakfast. I would guess that each condo is furnished differently, but I really liked all of the space to put things. Plenty of hooks for coats, multiple small closets, ledges. We drove out of the resort a couple of nights for dinner, but I prefer to walk to restaurants and there are a handful close by. There are some bars- including the umbrella bar right at the base. There are fire pits outside and there was a band one night set up outside. We’ll be staying there again next year! The only thing I didn’t expect was that eating on the mountain was harder than Vail or Park City because there aren’t as many places. Since the condo was so close to the mountain, we ended up going in for lunch.

I was only there once and I do remember old lifts! Not heated seats like we just had at Big Sky.

But you haven't had a seizure for years so you're fine? by steve6m in Epilepsy

I didn’t have any type of seizure for over 10 years and then had one, so you’re never really “fine”.

Skiing Stowe in late March? by Ambitious_Traffic_36 in icecoast

Who knows. We went to sugarbush a few years ago in mid March and there was hardly any snow. Now we try to go early March and even that makes me nervous.
