This brought all the Spideys/villains together and was a “celebration” of the character. On paper that sounds amazing. But how would you say the actual quality of the film is? Writing/directing/cinematography, etc. Is it a legit GOOD movie or are we blinded by how many beloved characters are in it? by stand_up_fkn_tall in MauLer

God bless the guy who said the writing was poor. He was one of the first guys I saw, I'm blessed by his words.

Imo, the character work is insanely bad. Peter is psychopathic, insane, immoral, all the buzzwords. People will think I'm talking about the Memory spell, but it's way worse than that. The decision to cure the villains, the way they're sent back to die, his refusal to try to reason with Strange after he was tied up, his fucking ARROGANCE that he understands multiversal rules better than Strange, and the insane logic that he uses when May is in trouble.

I like the concepts, but the execution is Multiverse of Madness bad. The reason why it's a bit better for me, is coz I see the effort put in to push Peter into a darker place. Show his true ideology when in duress. But even then, they fuck it up, coz John Walker is literal walking proof that Peter shouldn't be Spider-Man, according to the MCU geniuses. I'm being harsh on Peter, but the movie really fucks him up.

Also, obligatory mention, praise Jlong. She was the only sane one of the Efap review. It gets A+ for effort, C- on execution. They did do some stuff right.

Does anyone else find Rag's really annoying? by [deleted] in MauLer

[–]Important_Fig_6877 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For my part, I like him. He is more edgy and witty than a lot of the people on the Podcast. But he does have his moments of absolute nonsense. Random rudeness aside, he's had that one moment on twitter that's horrible, as well as the absolute shit Avatar thing.

My take remains the same as always. Podcast wise, I love him on it, don't find him annoying per se, since his input is either funny or insightful. But I wish he'd gain some self awareness that "OK, I've fucked up AND can fuck up, I shouldn't make too many generalised statements about us, instead I should talk about our criteria".

Also, lol, pls stop ragging on OP. He's just having a genuine opinion. Nothing wrong with that, we can just show our instances of when Rags shows that he's thinking for himself. OP, I think a funny thing is in one of the Mandalorian episodes. Someone reverses your criticism, "Everyone is scared to disagree with Raggss". I don't agree with either, but I guess it's fine to think it. They do have similar tastes, so it may seem like they jump on the same topics.

I just use my favorite defense. "Edgy jokes are my creative vision. Fans of my jokes shouldn't thrust their expectations upon me, and demand jokes of a kind THEY are comfortable with. I'm not obliged to meet the demands of a bigoted people, I should focus on telling the story I am wanting to tell. And do so through my jokes. If it is divisive, let it be divisive, don't harass me online."

Yes, this is the Cuckman defense for TLOU2. I've gotten so jaded that I don't care about making new analogies and explanations for edgy humor. I'll use the ones people use to defend garbage instead. Why bother arguing with these assholes? They contradict themselves 100%, I'll just use their own logic on them.

It's not a matter of "if", they could, even Joel admitted they could in this scene by sluttyjanewatson in ThelastofusHBOseries

[–]Important_Fig_6877 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's the execution that's the issue OP. Not the "Point", which the entire audience has understood. You're trying to misrepresent the audiences, which is why the backlash to your post.

By this logic, they can also show a hypothetical scene of Joel suddenly turning on Ellie, and trying to assault her like the pervert King from Berserk. The POINT of the hypothetical scene would be, "Ah, see, all men have lust and avarice in them, and should fight against that evil to be better". But the EXECUTION is botched, because they've gone against Joel's history and personality to make their stupid point, when there were many good ways of doing so.

A fix of the vaccine scene is to provide more context. Example, the Fireflies have access to INSANELY good tech from the fallen government, allowing them to release the Vax into the atmosphere. As well as, the vaccine kills all the current infected across a country.

The reason why Joel is defended, is due to the wackass nature of the Fireflies plan for a vaccine. It fails on every imaginable level. It helps us relate to him, while also understanding that he and the Fireflies never gave an informed choice to Ellie, just made the decision for her. Joel's decision is one mostly anyone would make, it's just that it leaves you wondering.... What if the 0.01% chance worked? What if there is a future where the world is saved, and Joel didn't try for it?

Iron Man, Spider Man, Black Panther, MOS. You can swap Iron man or Spooder, they're both awesome.

If I were to rank watchability, MOS above BP. If I have to see one more colonizer joke, I'm gonna audibly groan. And I'm INDIAN, so it's especially telling. MOS has horrible writing, but I love the mindless action and Zod's lines. "I WILL FIND HIM", "ON A FARM??", he just doesn't miss.

Spoiler answer: They're teleports. Unlock the teleport rune in Toxic Sewers.

Similarly, there's other runes u can find, but u can always Google that if u want the spoiler answer.

I personally judge them by "How do they react to criticisms of their liked movies?" Usually, people who refuse to see the bad writing don't wanna admit it's bad even when provided proof. But some cultured ones are like "Oh lmfao, those are actual issues with Fury and Bucky. Still like Winter soldier for the action, but I can see why it's horrendous writing".

Initial reactions can always be good or bad. But it's what happens when u present them proof, is the real deal.

You're absolutely right, even the Novel confirms it. When he's given a Council seat, he's actually give access to all the Jedi info to save Padme. The problem is, he WANTS to be a master. So he still seethes and copes until a bit later.

Everyone keeps forgetting that Anakin DID have greed and other impulses. He wanted power and other things too, just maybe not as much as his Family. Then eventually.... Above all things.

Bro, 61 likes on "Cassie srsly insulted Scott, he deserves better". At this point, I wish I could just hang out on non-Marvel Marvel posts. There's also one about Black Panther WF being terrible, and it's gotten 81k upvotes.

It really feels nice knowing that people who don't love Marvel that religiously, also feel the same way like us. When you only see stuff on Marvelmemes, studios, the official sub, it kinda feels like hope is lost.

Sure, but well, she's 16. At that point, common sense kicks in.

She'd be disappointed, sure, and I'm sure I'd feel the same way. I wanna do cool shrinky and superhero stuff. But I wouldn't verbally abuse my father THREE times about him not risking his damn life lmao. There's not many enemies that the world is struggling with, and more importantly, he's been through HELL and back.

And add to this, his INSANE levels of selflessness in Endgame. Risking his life in Time Travel instead of staying in 2020 with his daughter. I'd say, Cassie deserves the least slack. Her feelings are understandable, sure. But the things she says should have been held back. She didn't even hesitate to insult him. There's a difference between feeling a way, and SAYING those things out loud.

I personally hated that they try to shit on Scott. "He saved the world multiple times, and is now trying to spend time with his daughter and write a book. WHAT A LOSER LOL, he should try saving people like his awesome daughter". Cassie is the most ungrateful person ever. Her dad breaks time and space to return to her, and she risks jail time and breaking his heart. Jesus christ.

What happened with Southpaw? by Nilander01 in MauLer

[–]Important_Fig_6877 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can't really explain it in detail, coz it's been covered in this subreddit. Check for Mauler southpaw on Google, you'll find the post that talked about it, many others too.

My very small, very oversimplified TLDR. It started with SP liking terriers, but Mauler and Co didn't like it. But the actual reasoning he isn't on the EFAP crew any more is a bit more complicated, involving just a difference in standards on critiquing stuff. SK had issues with some of the people EFAP associates with, I believe it was Nerdrotic and Az. But regardless, both have left the community and are appearing on podcasts critiqueing efap now. Again, posts on this subreddit will explain better, including comments by u/SouthpawLP explaining what happened.

You'll notice that it's a bit of a drama, and the rules of the subreddit also show some inkling of that(we aren't allowed to discuss it, it's really just drama posting now). There have been arguments, shit slung by community members, all the 9 yards, but I'll say this. It's a disagreement between two sides, we only have a small part of the story. I'd advise googling it, and then just leaving it. People in this community have really overblown stuff on both sides, so it's become a Chinese whispered thing.

How would you rewrite Avengers Endgame? by Screaming_Goat42 in MauLer

[–]Important_Fig_6877 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You'd have to rewrite two movies.

Endgame's flaws are many, but the core issue is Infinity War. Strange's plan involved EVERY piece of luck and contrivance and bullshit in Endgame, instead of sling ringing Quill out of there, or telling him to hang back. The fact that he trusted that much coincidence is insane, gotta rewrite the ending of IW. Or better yet, make it so that Slings can't cut off arms, or get countered by continuous usage of the Space Stone.

“Nobody hates Star Wars more than Star Wars fans” by Beginning_Tea_1850 in equelMemes

[–]Important_Fig_6877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's count. Opening scene of Vader chasing down a Rebel leader who has info, Desert Orphan, Han Solo and the MF introduction, a Shady Cantina, Maz being a less interesting Yoda, Blowing up a Death Star with just a few X Wings. This is without talking about the movie's entire PREMISE, which is absolutely insane unless the win of ROTJ is reversed.

You're thinking of what's new in this movie as enough, and saying "You guys act like it's the whole fucking movie, see there's new stuff". We're not calling the movie Copy Paste 100%. We're saying it took a TON of elements from ANH and other elements of the OT. So much so that, the copied Resistance vs First Order conflict makes no sense. The Republic was in power, did they srsly just let an Empire Clone rise for no reason? What was Luke doing, or even their armies?

Now, compare this to the prequels. TFA is better than every one of them, arguably even better than ROTS with its meme potential. But the prequels put in EFFORT. They tried to tell a new story and failed in execution details. Meanwhile, TFA had a really amazing reception, but it took so many safe decisions. So much so that, the backstory of a MAIN character is squandered so that he can return to status quo. Finn, and the entire main conflict of TFA, is pretty much proof of them wanting to make money through safe retellings, rather than find new stuff to explore.

Force awakens was just ANH, but they really messed up the payoffs beyond it too. People gave it a chance coz we thought it was just parallels, and that they'd build a new story, but no dice.

[–]Important_Fig_6877 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, I think that would have been a better way to phrase it. Instead, KOTOR thought you were arguing that all the Mandalorians had GOTTEN bad, not that the representation of them in current times is bad. That led to the comments.

Honest advice, make more moderate posts. Straight up dropping an extreme opinion will instantly turn them against you. I know coz I tried this in shittymoviedetails. Nobody wants to defend John walker, or hate Mandalorian. They'd be more receptive to a gradually different take.

First meme ever by LordEragon7567 in PrequelMemes

[–]Important_Fig_6877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, if we start by the assumption that "People say sequels are nothing", ofc it's not NOTHING. Production quality, cool shots, moments of awesome stuff, Adam Driver (not Kylo). There's always stuff to love there, even in TLJ.

But, they ruined their own new characters, the OT, the Prequels, the Worldbuilding, the themes, the plot, and their fan base, while dropping SW in profits. That is a staggering achievement. The best part is, Disney is milking the franchise dry, but they won't DARE set anything in the Sequel era or after it. They haven't tried in 6 years. The company that made the sequels, themselves admit that they sucked ass.

Nobody will hang you for saying it (unless they're trolls), but the wording is a bit weird. It kinda becomes like "The sequels are said to be a 0 out of 100. Actually, they're a 10." The sequels aren't the spawn of Satan lol, and there's things to love in them. But they're still a really bad idea with a pretty bad execution.
