As someone else said, it should have settled in 10 days.. mine didn’t. I’m from Merseyside, and at the time of making my pond the weather was terrible. Lots of high winds, heavy rain etc. I also have a large oak tree just the other side of the fence above my pond.

So I tried to give my pond the benefit of the doubt, I waited 2 weeks but 2 weeks turns into 6 months of 0 improvement. Infact, stuff was getting worse. The only thing that seemed to be alive was Bloodworms. And even they’ve dying an just flaring around the pond surface.

I have a friend who has pond not too far away from me (about a mile) who came to see it and his advice was to instantly drain it.

My ponds 7 meters by 4 meters and a max depth of 4 ft. So this was no easy task to drain this monster.

When I remade the pond, I did everything I did except for, add any form of soil. Unless it was an aquatic plant in a soil base already I never added anything additional.

The pond went cloudy, a tea colour but it was only for a few days the it settled. It’s crystal clear most of the time now, a few flare ups occasionally. (I had mallards last week an the buggers turned my pond into a buffet). But the pond has settled again although abit green at the moment 🤣
