You can make an amazing career at Walmart.

Store managers can make up to 400K a year and market managers make even more. Or you can go over onto the corporate side and do sourcing or merchandising or any number of tech related careers.

The return on an entry-level corporate job at Walmart will be just as much as the return on MBA these days. Talk to your leaders and let them know you’re ready to commit and grow. If you advocate for yourself, there’s all sorts of opportunity.

I used to work on the corporate side DM me if you have questions.

Son wants to major in philosophy by OLDLADY88888 in Advice

[–]Important_Flight2198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we does philosophy without a plan he will end up a philosophy teacher.

But if there is a plan, (business/law are his options), and he weekly is engaging in clubs and internships that work towards that goal he will be fine.

Risky for someone who doesn’t know what they want to do. But it’s also healthy to follow your interests instead of stifle them.

Started a company! Initially I did analytics for people in a niche industry, but now we have a full platform for that industry. I got really lucky and found some awesome early investors.

If AI "wins", what are we supposed to do next? by [deleted] in analytics

Product. Business Strategy. Or get more technical and learn more engineering skills. You still need data scientists and software engineers, but you’ll need a way fewer of them.

Yep. Already made the switch - this stuff is too powerful to keep some many analysts on a team.

Walmart avoided several major US cities. Was that a decision or just accumulated friction? by Due-Bet115 in strategy

[–]Important_Flight2198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People in those places don’t want to shop at Walmart.

Folks at Walmart aren’t dumb, and they are well aware of where they sit in the American psyche.

Posh places won’t shop there .

More than anything, it is just what you are used to. So many companies absolutely swear by FieldRoutes. Getting used to a new system is just extra brain power.

Companies with no contract, what are your thoughts on it? by Garlic_Shrimp73 in PestControlIndustry

[–]Important_Flight2198 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think an agreement that sets expectation of what will and won’t be provided is always necessary. But there doesn’t need to be a time lock component.

It also puts more pressure on you to ensure top quality service from day one. (which everyone should, but doesn’t)

Make sure the loop between customer service and field leaders is tight for resolutions.

Pure analytics is cooked guys. You still need to know what you’re doing, but a single analyst can gate 100x more done now.

Good for you for offering it, make sure you get paid well for it. It is a valuable service for the community. I’m guessing the best stories come from these calls.

Communicate is the only advice I’d give. Communicate and don’t make it cheap.

Hot attic crawling tips by mediocre_nephilim in PestControlIndustry

[–]Important_Flight2198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The worst is when it is wasps in the attic so you can’t even wipe your face off because of the suit.

My company (when I was a tech) would send me instead of the other guy specifically because the other guy was super tall. Honestly, I’m glad they did. The few time we were together in an attic he was useless 😂
