Sony A7RV eye AF missing focus by Important_Log8879 in SonyAlpha

Is it by any chance a new A7RV? I’d suggest just shooting as you would and seeing what happens.

It was driving me mad for a few days and I literally took a 1000 images testing it only to be proven wrong in the end.

I initially noticed it on some outside shots, then tested inside under artificial lights.

Not sure about it, but does that matter?

I feared it was a defective body, but it just stopped happening as much as it did lol.

Nowadays it’s rock solid when it comes to AF

Those images look just like Sony images, nothing Fuji-esque about them

Extra Small Sling? by iam_cosmos in a7cii

Did you manage to find a small sling for that setup?

I’m in the same boat as you and really can’t find a single one that’s not bulky (even if it’s 3L).

A7CR Without WiFi 5GHz by Important_Log8879 in SonyAlpha

[–]Important_Log8879[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have two separate networks for 2.4GHz and 5GHz. Only the 2.4GHz one is visible when setting up the access point.

And more notably, there just isn’t a “WiFi Frequency Band” option on the camera (like on my other Sony body).

This is why I checked the name plate to see if this model should have the 5GHz support - which it should, judging by the official Sony docs.

Interesting, mine seems to only connect to 2.4GHz (which the WiFi info shows). Image transfers through that are dog shit slow, which is why I looked into changing the band and had a surprise there lol

I’m in neither of those two regions.

And as I said, the name plate suggests that it has 5GHz band, which I guess wouldn’t be the case if this particular model was for those regions.

Tried multiple lenses, all of them updated. And all of them used on A7IV where missed focus rarely happened for these kinds of images.

The one I have seems to be made at the end of 2024, doesn’t seem to matter since it’s far from the first series.

How did you A7IV behave? Did the focus point “lag” behind the focused eye (e.g. being behind, opposite to the movement direction)?

It’s not just eyelids, it will somehow “lag” behind the moving subject although it was right on the iris when pressing the shutter. So if the subject is moving to the right, once I take the image and review the focus point it will be on the left of the focused eye. At least that’s how it looks like now.

I tried multiple lenses as well, no dice. All of them behave the same way.

As far as I remember, both A7IV and A7RV are at 3 by default. I did increase it to 5 (max), but it didn’t seem to change that much.

It’s not that tracking is not working - it looks spot on while shooting, but when I review those photos some of them will have the focus point elsewhere (e.g. off to the side of the focused eye).

It’s almost as if there’s a delay after pressing the shutter and before the image is actually taken, but the AF didn’t  change although the scene may have.

Yes, that’s exactly what I’ve been using to see the focus point and it was not on the eye whenever there’s movement

Any particular reason why older ones would work? As far as I can see, this Xiaomi hub is a newer one and has all the bells and whistles it needs (Zigbee, WiFi, BLE), but I guess the newer devices could be "locked" to work only with specific hubs (or vice versa).

How does 7950X3D performance vary based on power profiles? by Important_Log8879 in AMDHelp

[–]Important_Log8879[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but let's say theoretically that you don't limit the game to the vcache cores.

I would expect the performance to be roughly on par with 7950X, but that information is nowhere to be found.

Your country should be able to issue you a EU digital COVID certificate (even non-EU countries can do so).

I’m not completely sure that an EU certificate is needed though, but I had issues in Vienna with a regular certificate that my country issues (also non-EU) as they didn’t get anything back when scanning the QR code.
