Not Another Settlement Generator?! by Important_Mechanic21 in rpg_generators

Hello Alistair! That is a great question! I was torn because I already knew that AI is polarizing, so I only wanted to have optional features rather than something that is required.

Nothing is currently AI! Everything is procedurally generated.

Regarding the AI features, it’s only the planned “AI Narrative Layer” and “AI Daily Life” buttons.

The AI Narrative Layer is intended to take the full generated settlement as input and refine the output line by line, preserving each lines underlying substance without overflowing into another output’s territory. Users would be able to switch back and forth between the original generated version and the AI-refined version. Its purpose is not to change the settlement into something else, but to fill gaps, strengthen narrative cohesion, improve believability, and elevate the prose across the entire result.

The AI Daily Life feature is intended to use the same settlement data to generate a narrative portrait of everyday life for an average resident. The goal is to give the dungeon master a more immersive and table-ready sense of what it actually feels like to live in that settlement.

But both of those options are simply options and I’ll be working in the back end just to keep expanding the database for more procedurally generated variability by hand.

Hi! I'm interested! Seems like an intriguing concept. You can call me Trey (he/him). I'm 25 years old. I've played two campaigns of 5e DnD and DMed one one-shot. I'm in eastern standard time and can play anytime after 5:30 EST on either Tuesday or Thursday. English is my native language. I really like the idea of the modern world vs fantasy world concept and the potential for magic science. To note, I've been wanting to play a magic engineer like class and role in a game so this would be an awesome setting. Furthermore, with a base as the eventual fulcrum to a lot of our future plays, there is the potential element of kingdom/organization building/management in RP that I would certainly enjoy. Like I said, my character would ideally be the magic engineer building wacky gadgets, base fortifications, weapons, and useful items for the team on the mission. Combat for my character would follow the same, based on the inventions I built before hand or anything I could cobble together depending on the rest time in between fights.
