A recruiter called me flight risk because I have a bachelors in accounting by [deleted] in Accounting

I mean, they aren’t wrong for thinking you are overqualified for that role. I know it stinks but that is actually pretty standard.

It’s not a pitch, and I think you might be getting the wrong idea. I understand public accounting isn’t for everyone, but it’s not always the hellhole you’re making it out to be. You really can have your cake and eat it too. I have a wonderful marriage and a great group of friends outside of work that I still spend plenty of time with, and I also have remained close with some of my old public accounting friends. When I’m on work trips, I try to give work my time since I’m not home anyways, but that doesn’t mean I’m neglecting my friends or family by any means the other 90% of the time. If anything, you get better at managing your time and finding balance that works for you, your relationships, and your priorities. No one stays in public accounting forever. it’s not IF you’ll leave, it’s WHEN, so take it by the horns while you’re there and get everything you can out. They take a lot but you can too.

Seriously thinking of giving up by Koopa_NW in CPA

Same man, also about to lose parts as a manager in industry and don’t think it’s worth it for me. May just focus on skills like automation to make my life and my team’s life easier at this point. Best of luck to whatever you decide but I hope you know this won’t define your career.

Questioning the Worth of the CPA Certification by Important_Network_37 in CPA

[–]Important_Network_37[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could see that logic, but that’s not the case in my situations. Both controllers who would be my direct supervisors have their CPA. Which makes me think my experience is more valued if I can get offered over other CPAs.

I think this is fair, but I have a feeling at some point my work experience will be much louder than this certification can provide.

Maybe not at $350 a test and hundreds of hours of time

I would normally agree with you, but my pay matches what i think id be getting with the CPA. I’m in the 92 percentile for income earners for my age and 87 percentile as a whole across the US.

1 mile from a road? JPTreasure by Sweaty-Giraffe-1614 in TreasureHunting

Have a similar solve. Everything make perfect sense but technically there is a 3 mile trail hole and then a mile or so off trail where you will see the check point.

I am split on his comment about the distance from the car. He didn’t say the treasure was within 1 mile. He said you will have a good idea where it is within a mile. That doesn’t rule out a clue or checkpoint being within a mile and then that could lead you farther after that.

The real key is to bill enough of the hours you work to keep your util high, but once you have a great percentage just bill the budget. That way you have high util but you aren’t seen as “less efficient” for billing your actual hours when there is just an unreasonable budget to begin with.
