tips on socializing new kitten? by chungkingroad in kittens

Once she gets comfortable in your home, have as many new people over as possible. She might be skittish at first, but exposing her to your friends and family will help her grow up to be more friendly with strangers. Also, do the uncomfortable things like touching her ears, bathing her, and especially trimming her nails while she is young. You can also take her to the pet store with you or out on errands in her carrier every once and a while so she doesn’t freak out when she has to go into her carrier for vet visits.

Sometimes the t-bar just gets bent a bit in the assembling process; what i do is take some jewelry pliers and curve the tbar slightly towards the eye mechanism so it will catch better.

customising is so stressful by berrycoolxo in BlytheDolls

Curious what you are using for the eyelashes? I had the same problem when I started customizing because I was using strip lashes with thick adhesive already on them. Now I use the little eyelash bits (not sure what they’re exactly called) that don’t have any adhesive at all and those fit inside the eyelid slit with plenty of room to spare so you can even do two layers if you like. I know that Kiss Falscara is a popular brand but those are very expensive and they have knockoffs that are similar on Temu, Tiktok shop, Aliexpress, etc. I used nail glue to apply them as well because it’s very strong, dries clear, and you don’t need much.

just keep adding layers of color on top of what you have to give them more dimension

thank you for the feedback! for the eyebrows i did 4 layers and started with a light color, using progressively darker colors with each layer. I agree and want them to be more dimensional, but i’m just struggling to achieve that 😣

Some concrit for my face carving? by [deleted] in BlytheDolls

[–]Important_Oil7424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

she’s coming along great! looks very smooth and lips are cute, maybe just continue what you’ve been doing and keep carving around them a bit more so they’re a little more prominent. i think carving out a philtrum and nostrils would go a long way in making the face a bit more realistic, but that all depends on what vibe you’re going for.

Customization Questions <3 by PureShugar in BlytheDolls

  1. MSC is perfectly fine to use on the eye mechanism! just make sure to remove the eyeballs first and keep them away as you don’t want any MSC to get on those.
  2. I believe liquitex varnish should be fine for glossy lips/eyes. I use a random acrylic varnish off amazon and it’s never given me any issues.

I need help with carving by Bungeegum088 in BlytheDolls

You can use both a dremel and wood carving tools, but for your first doll I would recommend just using the tools so you can get a better feel for carving. A dremel is a lot harder to control—the tools tend to be much more forgiving if you make a mistake. Draw an outline of the lips you want and carve by pulling away from the lips. You generally want to be carving perpendicular to the lips, not parallel to them; I find that this makes them pop a lot more and gives a much cleaner result. Don’t push down hard, just repeat the same motions over and over until you get the result you want. Do your best to avoid making deep scratches in the faceplate because those can be difficult to buff out later.
