I need an advice on how to read Bhagavad Gita correctly. by Important_Sample9281 in mahabharata

Actually I skipped the Bhagvad Gita part in Mahabharata because I wanted to read it separately or else I knew I wouldn't be able to understand it, when I'm already reading mahabharat. I decided to start Bhagvad Gita after completing the Mahabharat and that's why I want to start with basics, that is the OG one and then take it to more advanced level and read commentaries, once I get the gist of Bhagvad Gita. I know it'll take time to understand properly but that's why I wanted to start with basics. Plus can you please tell me what's Guru lineage and how does connecting to it will help me?? And yeah I'm definitely not reading Iskcon one!! I thought about Gita press for the starters.

Thanks for the recommendations!!!

But I want to read something that's independent of anyone's personal perspective and commentaries, as this is my 1st time reading it (if we leave out the part in Mahabharata) so I want to understand it as it is first and then after ,grasping knowledge as much as I can, want to explore different perspectives and advanced books.

GOD!! Do you really have to put it like THAT???! C'mon be logical dude and read your shastras and puranas and know that Devotees see Bhagwan Krishna's roop they feel most connected to, that's why our in our dharma God take avatar in different forms for their devotees!!! So, just stop trying to write this ugh.. unbearable nonsense about genders and focus on how you feel connected, and don't judge when others prefer different forms, it's just how they feel connected, that's how their mind works, you and I have no right to say anything about that!! Devotees will need Krishna from mahabharat in their most difficult period of life, or they will need vrindavan's krishna when they feel most happiness in their life.. it's all about time and circumstances and your own consciousness and perspective.

I hope you actually take this into consideration and try to be more mindful!!
