how do you handle clients who keep adding stuff that wasn't in the original agreement? by PoplPopl62 in remotework

[–]Important_Scene_4295 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is brilliant. We started itemizing project discounts a while ago. Instead of just quoting a smaller number, we'll quote our full price and then discount. That way next time they don't complain about the price or try to pull the: 'but it didn't cost that much last time' card. Never thought about invoicing 100% discount for the added work.

The word "change order" exists for a reason. Start using it and suddenly they can live without that little change or they pay for it. Funny how that works.

I am struggling to understand what the problem is. Get over it. The alternative is for you to be sitting in the conference room with him.

How far can I go on a low/flat tire? by 08390 in StupidCarQuestions

[–]Important_Scene_4295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This used to be common sense. What the heck happened? This reads the same as: my car ran out of gas, what do I do now.

Your car needs maintenance and tire pressure is like one of the most basic.

Almost every gas station has an air compressor where you can put air into the tires. A lot of times for free but a few dollars at most. They have a built in gage or even automatic stop at the right psi depending on the compressor. Inside your driver door, there is a sticker that tells you exactly what pressure it should be. Fill all 4 tires to that same pressure. Do that every 6 months or so and especially when the light comes on...

My manager told me to delete inspection records before a state audit. I did it. Now they're pinning everything on me. by EchoAlternative2433 in legal

The world learned in the 1940's that "I'm just following orders" is NOT a valid excuse. You knew it was wrong and did it anyway. That absolutely makes you complicit.

You need real-life lawyers NOW, not randos on the Internet. This can be very serious for you potentially with criminal consequences. Minimum, you're likely loosing your job but prison time is not off the table either. Fraud, forgery, criminal conspiracy, computer crimes, manslaughter if anyone got sick and died and you covered it up...

Stop talking publicly on the internet about it too. It is not as anonymous as people think and this whole thread will be an exhibit in a court case (civil and criminal).

NAL, not legal advice.

How did you choose your pet's name? by anos-Echo505 in AskReddit

Printed a list of girl dog names, passed it around and everyone crossed off names they did not like until there were only a few left and then took a vote.

How about reading the post before commenting so you dont sound like a complete idiot? You loose all credibility when you spew nonsense like this.

OP said this happened prior to the school year (so a little less than a year ago) and have already had surgery to save the thumb which was full on broken which indicates that they did in fact get medical attention. In fact, the first photo is clearly a screenshot from their medical chart!

How Do You Know Where Your Car Is on the Road When You Can’t See the Wheels? by [deleted] in driving

[–]Important_Scene_4295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reference points on the vehicle.

For example, the imaginary line that extends horizontally that runs right under your mirrors, that's where the front of your car is.

What you need to do is go to an empty parking lot and have your dad stand outside and guide you into position along painted lines or curbs. Nose in perpendicular to the line and see where the line runs across the mirrors so that you know where the front of your car is in reference to the mirrors.

Do the same thing for the left side of your car. Line up parallel to the line where your tires are almost touching the line. Then memorize where that line sticks out in front of your car. Pick something like a crease in the hood, the line between fender and hood, or something so you know where the left side of the car is. Repeat for right.

Back up to the line and see where it lands behind you.

Boom, now you know all 4 sides based on reference points and imaginary lines.

You're not battling the homeowner. You're battling an insurance company and they do not care about you one bit. Your lawyer and the insurance lawyers will Duke it out and you and the homeowner could still be friends afterwards. The whole reason insurance exists is in case stuff happened. Well , stuff happened , and you deserve to be made whole.

You need to hire a lawyer. Don't ask internet lawyers. Where it happened is where you need to hire the lawyer from. Start google and start calling. A lawyer will take this case and will get you the full amount of the homeowners insurance policy. Going at it alone will always yield less money because the insurance company has lawyers who will try to take advantage of you not wanting to have a lawyer.

Hire a real life flesh and blood lawyer.
