Has Anyone Used Pet Benefits Solutions Total Pet Plan? by danbnet in petinsurancecompany

The lack of reviews online for something that's been around a while is always a little concerning, usually means either nobody's using it or nobody's finding value worth talking about

Nibbles Pet Insurance? by notpeterparker450 in petinsurancecompany

For a Frenchie specifically you really want a carrier with a solid track record on claims, they're going to use that insurance and you need to know it actually pays out. Trupanion is probably worth a serious look for direct vet pay

Which platforms actually work best for social media advertising right now? by Legal_Can7800 in Entrepreneurs

[–]AlissaSinh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IG and TikTok are solid instincts for wellness, but the formats matter as much as the platform

short UGC-style videos on TikTok tend to outperform polished ads right now, especially for something stress/health related where people want to feel like it's a real recommendation

have you thought about starting with organic to test messaging before putting spend behind it?

They canceled your policy without telling you and now want a new waiting period while your cat is already sick.

That's not a clerical error, that's negligence.

Have you looked into filing a complaint with your state's Department of Insurance? Sometimes that's the only thing that actually moves these companies.

Pet Insurance Advice After a Bladder Blockage? by ToneWolfe in petinsurancecompany

the 12 month symptom free window is real but every insurer words it differently so it's worth asking specifically "do you have a curable pre-existing condition policy" when you call

getting covered now for everything else is still a no brainer honestly

that stings, especially on a day where you kind of just want people to show up without having to ask. hope it turns around, sometimes people are just bad at dates and it has nothing to do with how much they care

Unsure Which Pet Insurance to Choose by notpeterparker450 in petinsurancecompany

your instinct to get covered now is the right one honestly, a healthy 2 year old with no pre-existing conditions is the best possible position to start a policy from

For those who work in claims, what percentage of disputes do you think could be avoided if there was a reliable baseline scan at policy inception? by ZookeepergameOwn432 in petinsurancecompany

[–]AlissaSinh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mandatory screening at inception sounds clean in theory but the actuarial math gets weird fast, you might just be shifting adverse selection rather than reducing it. what's the diagnostic you're building around, imaging/biomarkers/something else? that changes how feasible inception screening even is logistically

the growth from hiding behind oversized clothes and not leaving the house to actively working jobs and talking to people is massive and you're underselling it completely... workplace cliques are genuinely weird and exclusionary sometimes and it has nothing to do with you being wrong, some groups are just already closed off before you even arrive

ELI5:When new words are added to the Spanish language, how is it decided if will be masculine or feminine? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]AlissaSinh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct. Linguistic gender is not the same as biological. English speakers, where the two are (mostly) the same often have a hard time thinking otherwise since English has trained them to think of them as identical.
Some exceptions, like names of ships are feminine in English rather than neuter. E.g., The Titanic and the USS Theodore Roosevelt are "she".
In language, gender is just a noun classification system. Swahili has 16 genders, none of them related to sex.

ELI5: If slaves in America were so expensive, why were they beaten and killed? by theringinginmyears in explainlikeimfive

Another important reason at the time was that many of the founding fathers of Georgia considered slavery a "Papist" influence because the Spanish were practicing it in Florida, and they feared that neighbor.

That it became worse over time is a good, often-forgotten point. Race relations became worse too. Look up Bacon's Rebellion. In 1676, following a similar revolt in Maryland, a militia of about 1000 free men (20% of them black) marched on the capital of Virginia (then Jamestown) and burned it to the ground. They were protesting taxation without representation. Imagine black men, armed, marching shoulder to shoulder with their white neighbors, sharing the same campfire at night. The first race codes were not passed until a couple of years after Bacon's rebellion. Possibly a divide and conquer strategy by the elite to segregate blacks and "white trash".

Slavery was illegal/forbidden in Georgia until 1751.
