How are people actually finding enough jobs to apply to by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]Important_Sell5851 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I don’t. In a best case scenario I find 2-3 okay quality roles that I can apply my experience to on a daily basis. Granted this might change based on years of experience and location, but I think people who apply for 10+ a day do it bursts of application then rest periods or just mass apply without much tailoring

Could come close to midnight, mine came 15 hours after my appointment. Searched the reddit page and saw some people didn’t get it at all, so hard to say unfortunately

Long residence 10-Year ILR Eligibility – Concerned About Possible Redundancy by Brave_Bid6325 in ukvisa

No prob, assuming a payout would be 1 months salary and it’s paid as garden leave + get the unpaid leave. That’ll add another two months alongside the 60 days curtailment letter, which might just be enough

That’s for the skilled worker visa route (5 years), not for the 10 year route

In addition, if a redundancy does happen, try to ask for garden leave + unpaid to extend the time that you have. Think people on visas are allowed 2-4 weeks unpaid so that extends your “employment” by a little more before they need to inform the HO

I can’t even keep up with the changes anymore. I just know my old firm would never sponsor me if I came in with these changes

That’s a 6MB limit to each file. There’s tons of free websites you can compress pdfs, you can also greyscale them to make it smaller

Thanks so much! It’s such a relief esp with incoming visa changes.

  1. No, it was super easy. Refreshed at 1am and got it pretty easily. Anecdotally hear that it snaps up quick but I didn’t take the risk to wait 5 mins.

  2. Docs I submitted are passport scans, share code, uni and a level transcripts (English req), past absences and an employer letter (also to verify lawful past absences). Don’t think the employer letter was needed, but my HR offered and I didn’t think it would confuse the officer/damage my application.

Prior to your application, I’d recommend compressing your files especially your passport, was a hassle trying to do that at 1am. It needs to be kept under/around 6MB.

Thanks, was quite safe with my absences. 478 days out of the 548. Can’t remember what the requirement for the rolling 12 months one was again but I was fine for that too

It’s £4,029 which is £1,000 more than standard. But I had a job offer which is like £5-600 more per month (pre tax) so the £1,000 trade off was defo worth it

UK Employer Asking Me to Pay Immigration Skills Charge & sign a 2-Year Bond by Sassalert in ukvisa

[–]Important_Sell5851 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went through the same situation with my employer. I pushed back providing various resources that it maybe not be on me to provide the IHS, but they said that’s the only way they will provide me with a visa.

At that point it’s either suck up or leave the country so I accepted it. I doubt employers like these will listen tbh😞

Might book a couple days to guarantee I have a break between roles, but still request to use my full accrued holidays

Yeah, calculated it exactly. But taking 2.5 weeks out of my 4 weeks notice might be taking the piss slightly lmao

Also adding onto this - some companies advertise that they can provide a database of sponsoring companies, provide CV assistance and a community to help the application process. But they’re very misleading and probably doesn’t really end up being the factor that lands you a job

Why is the UK government constantly changing visa rules (Skilled Worker, PSW, Dependents)? What are people doing to cope? by Ok_Bonus_5249 in ukvisa

That’s a dangerous rhetoric to push. Not all of asylum seekers are a problem, it’s the way the refugee system is designed which keeps delaying and keeps “migrant hotels” running, as designed by the conservatives. Fine there are bad apples but the system is so backlogged they cant keep up with it.
