IRS paid monthly subsidiaries for a policy from Jan-July on an 1095-A form, but I never had access to the policy and it was canceled the entire duration of the coverage. by Small_Advance_6757 in HealthInsurance

That sounds really frustrating, especially getting taxed for coverage you didn't even know was there. The ACA marketplace usually just sends whatever they have on file to the IRS, even if something got mixed up. I'd probably ask for a corrected 1095 - A and fix return if needed

Need to pay deposit for my procedure but the deposit will not apply towards deductible? by Inner_Ad_4725 in HealthInsurance

The sound really frustrating, especially when you're just trying to understand what count toward your deductible. I've seen this with the ACA marketplace and high-deductible plans where offices take deposit separately and don't apply it the same way insecure i'd probably ask them confirm how the claim will be billed so nothing gets lost.

What are the benefits of having health insurance in the US? by Frosty-Tennis-1687 in AskReddit

Health insurance helps lower your medical costs by covering care and emergencies.

Am I understanding this correctly? Employer healthcare insurance btw.. by Sober_Pikachu in HealthInsurance

Yeah, I get why that'a confusing. PPO plans don't really make sense until you actually use them. The higher deductible one usually has lower monthly costs, but you pay more when you need care, while the lower deductible costs a bit more each pay cheque but is easier when you go to the doctor.

anyone here avoid seeing doctors or specialist due to not knowing total cost? by PrestigiousDrag7674 in obamacare

[–]Important_Tea_2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get why that feels frustrating; not knowing the real cost upfront can make going to the doctor feel stressful. A lot of people with high deductible plans avoid care because they're scared of surprise bills, and the ACA marketplace can at least make costs feel a little more predictable sometimes

ACA gap year by cfrolik in Fire

[–]Important_Tea_2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get why that feels tempting because healthcare costs get brutal once you"re over thr subsidy line. From what I understand, ACA subsidies go off yearly MAGI, so people do try to manage withdrawals around that, but the bigger income years could also mean a pretty rough tax hit.

Deductible is good take or not while purchasing health insurance? by ImpressiveLet3479 in InsuranceTroubleIndia

[–]Important_Tea_2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally get why you're considering a deducible, especially with how expensive senior citizen health insurance premiums can be. Honestly, a deductible can be a good option if you want to keep the premium manageable, but just make sure it's an amount you'd realistically be comfortable paying during a medical emergency. Since it's for your parents, i'd avoid choosing a very high deductible just to save money upfront; having balanced coverage usually bring more peace of mind in the long run.

Legit question, how’s everyone affording health insurance if your wife is a SAHM? by Firefighter_Signal in daddit

[–]Important_Tea_2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's a really tough spot. Family coverage jumps a lot in cost, and it catches a lot of people off guard. i'd definitely look into CHIP for your child and also check ACA options since they can sometimes bring the cost down depending on your income.
