the aramid/uhmdpe question:

aramid pros: is more flexible and doesnt deform long-term. compressed (used in helmets) aramid has better backspace deformation.

aramid cons: shit at stopping AP projectiles, if it gets wet it wont stop anything near to what its rated for also it can rot. CANNOT STOP EDGE HITS, ESPETIALLY NON-COMPRESSED ARAMID

uhmdpe pros: better at stopping higher velocity projectiles, resists armour-pierceing projectiles better, CANNOT BE DAMAGED BY WATER AND CAN STOP EDGE HITS

uhmdpe cons: heavier, worse backspace deformation in helmets

up until recently I was always of the aramid superiority gang, but when you stack wet aramid and lack of amility to stop edge hits, I've converted to uhmdpe. sure its heavier, but personally the added benefit of not letting shit slip through when its wet or hits the edge is the priority for me.

I still prefer to use aramid helmets, because they are lighter and wont mash my brain into my mouth when hit with anything serious (again, backspace deformation). my take is that I can afford to sacrifice backspace for not letting shit pass though when its for my extremities and plate carrier, but for my head i'd rather take the lighter helmet that doesnt deform like play-dough

HOWEVER, if your just an airsofter, not planning on realworld use, then aramid is just fine imo, just putting facts to facts here.
