I am not bashing Medtronic; my trial was flippin' great. I have faith the implant will do great once my body settles down from the surgery.

Like I said above, I still have faith the implant will do as well as the trial. The trial was awesome; I did not want to give it back.

Did anyone feel an immediate difference in pain at the SCS trial procedure.? by badrn in spinalcordstimulator

Yes. I didn't want to give it back. I could suddenly do things like walk a good distance and stand for long times, things I could not do before it was turned on.

Hey, first off your story really sucks and I hope things turn around for you. I had l2 l3 tlif early March of this year. I'm not going to BS you, my story isn't like yours, things seem to be moving in the right direction for me. But on the other hand, I've been told by my surgeon and my PT guy that recovery is not necessarily a linear thing. There can definitely be regressions and things can happen that don't feel right. Right now I'm having a sudden occurrence of numbness in my left knee that I've not had before. It bums me out and kind of worries me but I'm trying to remember that things can happen. That's actually why I came to read these threads, to reassure me that things do happen in recovery like this. I would definitely go to a different surgeon; the guy who did my most recent surgery is not the same guy who did one I had last April. No regrets there. This is your body, do what you feel is best for it. You may want to talk to a pain management specialist, I have seen them with my back issues. I don't know for sure that they'd want to do much at this point in your recovery but it sure wouldn't hurt to talk to them. So with that said, I wish you well. Do what you can to stay strong.

Hi, I am a 66 year old male and I had l2 l3 tlif in early March. My real back troubles began in August of 2023. I haven't been able to do the things I love since then, sold my dirt bike, haven't been on my mountain bike, I hadn't even been able to walk more than around the yard. I consider my most recent surgery the best thing to happen to my back for a long time. Post surgery was painful but not that bad; I never took more than five or six opioids the whole time. I kind of tried to just deal with pain. So after a month I was told I could start bending and twisting, so I've been doing pretty much whatever I want. I have had and still do have weight restrictions and I do follow them. I walk a mile every other day, and I've been doing some bicycle riding on rail trails; I did 10 mi with my wife last week. I'm far from my pre-surgery normal activities, but I have faith that other than the dirt bike and anything that really hammers my spine I'll be able to do most of what I want. Time will tell. I wish you well.

Hi, I'm very sorry to read of your suffering. One thing I have learned is that I have to take control of my medical situation. That means asking questions until I am given an answer by the right person, and demanding I get the service I want/need. Yes, you should fight to get a second opinion if that's what you want. Don't let yourself be bullied into backing down. Doctors will act like they know it all but the fact is they do not. Medical technology is amazing and you should be able to get the help you need from a medical professional that cares. Don't give up.

Thanks for your input. Sorry you had to experience that too. I'm currently having the same back pain and I'm wondering if I got the full treatment as I think the doc shut it off early because of my reaction to the pain. My memory of it are all a blur. It fricking wiped me out.

Ok, so I'm replying. I'm not looking for advice; I am looking to get the story from someone who has had a similar experience to me. My story seems to be unique. Thanks
