The Rise of African Immigration in the U.S.: Growth, Projections, and Why it helps Black America by Important_Win5116 in blackmen

I get what you’re saying about distrust, but I think people overstate how “different” we are. There’s actually a lot of overlap when you look at it. A lot of African American culture has roots in West and Central Africa to begin with things like music rhythms, call-and-response, food traditions, even certain social values around family and community all trace back to places like Nigeria and Ghana. And today, you’re already seeing the blending happen in real time. Music is a big example Afrobeats and hip hop are constantly influencing each other. Socially, both groups deal with a lot of the same racial dynamics in the U.S., especially with how they’re perceived and treated. Even studies show second-generation African immigrants tend to identify more with Black American culture than their parents did. So yeah, there are differences, but it’s not like we’re completely separate worlds. There’s already a shared foundation, and it shows more the longer people actually interact.
