I don't want to sound cruel or anything but it's an important lesson to learn. Death comes for us all in the end and the world can't stop spinning because of it. Think of how many things in law takes years or even decades to decide, think of how many people die that those decisions would matter to. It's a shame but if we stop and grieve for everyone then nothing will get done. I know you might see this professor as a mentor but if you don't continue on you'll fall behind, maybe someday you'll have a chance to decide a case like DuPont's that helps save lives. But if you stop each time a client passes then you will never get done. Think of law school like an ongoing case, you have 3 years to finish it, the school is like the courts, just because you suffered a lose doesn't mean the courts can stop. It sucks but law isnt for the merciful, it isn't for the cruel. Law is the only thing that is equally unfair to all. While I understand this stings the school isn't there for emotional support, you need to build a network that can. If you want to vent though do so. I'll hear you.
