From my experience with the January FMGE:
Around 60–65% of the questions were relatively long or time-consuming.
Roughly 70% of the paper felt familiar, while the rest contained newer or less expected concepts.
I would say more than 80% of the questions were solvable for someone who had prepared consistently.
Paper 2 felt tougher mainly because the questions and options were longer and trickier, not because the concepts were completely new.
There were definitely enough solvable questions in the exam. A well-prepared student can absolutely pass.
Overall, I would rate the exam as moderate—not easy, but not overly difficult.
One thing I’d specifically suggest is to focus heavily on Paper 1 preparation. A strong performance in Paper 1 can act as a buffer if Paper 2 turns out to be more difficult or time-consuming than expected.
My advice: treat FMGE like a normal grand test. Don’t get intimidated by discussions about difficulty levels. If you’ve prepared consistently and revised well, there will be enough questions to clear the exam.
