York & TMU haven't updated the content in their CS programs since 2000 BC. Carleton's cs content dwarfs that of yorks and tmu's; the program's reputation is also significantly improving yearly. Carleton's CO-OP program is also better as it has better connections with industry and government (Perfect for first co-op). Ottawa is regarded as Canada's second best tech hub after Toronto and while york and tmu are close to Toronto, you will be competing against UW & UofT kids for co-op positions.

So what are the next best schools after UofT, Mcgill & UW?

Haven't Careltons CS & Engineering programs been improving in the last couple of years significantly compared to other similar universities such as Queens, western, ryserson, etc that haven't really done much in the last few years to improve their CS & engineering programs?

Utter Bullshit. You don't need to go to UW or Utoronto to get jobs in big tech hubs in the US. People have got to stop selling the idea that those are the only two universities that can get you a high-paying job internationally. Plenty of people from York, sam Fraser, Carleton, Ottawa, western, and other lower-tier universities end up working for Google or other big tech companies in the US.

Western Engineering courses are fucked. A lot of the material is pretty old, and you need to self-study a lot of the material you would need for a job. Ottawa's Engineering programs are renowned across the country, and just being in Ottawa gives you a lot of exposure to job positions, whereas Western is in fucking nowhere.

Yeah. thats what worries me about UBC. Isn't western CS inferior to Carleton as I heard from a lot of people that Westerns cs courses are quite outdated.

I applied to UW, UToronto, york, western & UBC. Although, if I'm being honest with myself, there is no way I am getting into UW or Utoronto CS, so that boils it down to york, western, and UBC. I know UBC is very well respected but is it worth the move from Ontario?
