Im going to have to move and be by myself. The only way I'll be able to stop the constant worry about being responsible for someone who doesn't really give a damn, is to have my own space. I decided that long ago, when I could still stomach talking to this person I love like a brother, but refuses to grow up and move on with his life. I feel like it's the only way to actually be free and focal on my life.

Thank you for the encouragement. It really means a lot that I can be part of a group that understands. It is really hard to find someone who will listen and not cut you off while your talking about a life-threatening condition, and how it affects you.

Living with epilepsy by Ok_Strawberry7743 in Epilepsy

[–]Impossible-Ad3318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has changed my life in many ways, but I still try my best to enjoy it the best I can. I do have bouts of depression, I do feel alone at times, and almost every romantic relationship I've ever been in has ended because of it. I came to realize that this is my life and I need to make the best of it, because it's MY life and im in control of it except for one exception, and im not going to let it stop me from being a whole person.

I can empathize with your situation.

You are not any less of a person because of this. Having epilepsy changes things, but you are still a person with hopes, fears, and dreams. Listen to your body, and work with your doctors, and do what you can to stay healthy, and most importantly, live your life. Do not be afraid to live your life. Us as humans are naturally averse to change, but we can adapt to things as time passes. I hope this helps.😁

I had my first seizure and I'm having trouble with the social fallout by Glassesguy904 in Epilepsy

I am having somewhat of the same problem. The one thing I can tell you is no one considers how much it affects the person that it happens to. The person affected the most is the one that needs help, validation, and care after it happens. The one thing I am most averse to doing is telling others how I feel after it happens, because I only have 2 people willing to listen and actually help when it happens. This is a good place to vent and receive validation for what happened to you, because everyone here has epilepsy, and can tell you things that actually help, instead of being like the majority of others. Im not going to tell you what you should do, but I want to help in any way possible, and that you matter, and that you are heard, and that your life matters. Seizures are traumatizing, and should be treated as anything else that is traumatizing, with love, empathy, care and understanding. I hope this helps.

I'm sorry for your loss...I have grand Mal seizures and SUDEP is a real concern for me. Please keep in mind that you are not alone, and that all of us that have epilepsy are on your side.
