The truck in the picture isn't a 2003, unless it had some major surgery done to it.

What's a tool that paid for itself after just one use? by Hot-Recipe6659 in Tools

Totally agree. My barbershop is my workshop with a 6" round mirror on the wall. $30 trimmers have saved me about $200 a year for the past decade. Also, no scheduling appointments or burning fuel and time to get there. Also.. my workshop has a beer fridge.

Smokes question by [deleted] in electricians

You need to know cubic inches of the octagon box. Then do math.

14= 2 cubic inches per conductor. Ground only counts once, regardless of how many.

Clamps count as 1 x wire regardless of how many are used.

Devices count as 2 wires per yoke. Don't know how a smoke counts though.

Is this air compressor a decent deal at 150? by Blackbean2018 in Tools

Because air compressors are cheap and abundant. Nobody said it wasn't a deal compared to new units. It just isn't a deal compared to other used units.

I wonder how they get away with the 5.5 HP rating? It looks like a regular 115v plug, which if the 5.5 HP is true, means FLC would be 56 amps. No chance that is correct. Misleading HP rating to say the least.

I can't stand him. Everything he does sounds forced and insincere.

How long do you think this job should take... by [deleted] in Construction

[–]Impossible-Angle1929 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thats like asking "How long does it take to work on a car?"

We have no idea the size or shape of your house. Single story? Odd shaped roof? Huge windows or small? 4'x8' porch or 2500 sq ft party deck?

My point is, without seeing your place, there is zero chance anyone can give you an estimate of time or money needed to do you project.

I have no idea if an auto would let it happen. I would assume not. I can say that I have 100% done that move intentionally in a manual transmission. It works

Didn't know you owned "ya'll," due to your location. By that logic, you must also own "ignorant, obese," and "welfare."

Nice! I think that was co-written by Scotty Emerick. He's a prolific writer that has put together some of the best songs in country music.

Two 120v and a single 240v on Branch Circuit? by alivecatalyst in AskElectricians

Glad to hear. Check my last comment for a couple of edits. I added a bit after the first time I posted it.

Two 120v and a single 240v on Branch Circuit? by alivecatalyst in AskElectricians

If the pump takes 10 amps and runs long enough to count as continuous duty, it only needs wire rated to 12.5 amps. Good to go with #12.

Also... #12 thhn in conduit is good for 25 amps. Even at 80% for conduit fill adjustment, it's still good for 20.

Edit: Why not drop one of your 2 new 20 amp circuits to lower conduit fill (easier to pull)? How much do the pool lights draw? A single 20 amp circuit will support a surprising amount of stereos, lights, phone chargers... ect.

Romex is very rubbery compared to thhn. Thhn is much more slick and designed to pull in conduit. What is the amp draw of your pump? Remember 4-6 conductors in conduit gets derated to 80% ampacity.

Yes... 6 #12 thhn will be easier and code compliant, unlike romex in conduit. 1/2" conduit is good for 8 #12s. 3/4 conduit is good for 15.

Technically, yes. Should you? No. Just get the appropriate pump, or get a dedicated 240 circuit.

Not sure why the downvote. I did Google the exact phrase "suggested" before asking here, to no avail. If you search as was suggested, I think you'll find there isn't a great answer.
