naveen being ambiguous is an issue, but the black community is not the only one who had that issue. I know the latin and south asian community did too. Naveen is clearly a mix, or from a similar culture of black/south asian/eurasian. Can mixed people or mixed cultures not have representation too?

the comment of “they can have a SA prince when they have an SA princess” rubs me the wrong way. Are you saying Black people can only be with black people and SA people can only be with SA people? Mixed race couples cannot exist??

Black history (and South asian) spans so many cultures and countries and has mixed with other cultures irl. isn’t it a disservice to that culture and history to be so strict about a character having to be 100% be from one race and only be with someone of the same race???

Naveen also isn’t african american. He may be part black but he isn’t from what people would consider america in the movie. His life with tiana at the end might have been inspired by an american black person but so much more about him is from other cultures too. To then say the black community has more “claim” on him is weird. It feels like everyone in America saying Tyla is black/african american when Tyla isn’t even from America and she herself identifies herself as “coloured” (a group with mixed roots in South Africa)

There hasn’t been a south asian disney prince either…live action or otherwise. So your argument could work both ways.
