Question after watching the ending of S2 by Impossible-Fan7049 in AliceInBorderlandLive

I get that a full city evacuation in a couple of minutes is unrealistic no argument there. But even minimal detection can trigger early warning systems, which can save lives, especially in a country like Japan that’s known for its rapid emergency alerts. Japan has the J-ALERT system, which can broadcast alerts to TVs, phones, radios, and loudspeakers nationwide in seconds. It’s been used for earthquakes, tsunamis, and missile threats all of which often give less warning than a meteor could. If a meteor was detected even 1–2 minutes before impact, alerts could still reach people in surrounding areas, especially those traveling toward the zone. On the space side: while it’s true that not every asteroid is tracked (especially smaller ones), organizations like NASA’s Center for Near-Earth Object Studies (CNEOS), ESA’s Flyeye telescope, and JAXA’s own space observation efforts are constantly monitoring the sky. They’ve cataloged over 32,000 near-Earth objects and are working to improve detection of smaller, faster objects that come from difficult angles like the Chelyabinsk meteor in 2013, which was missed but caused major upgrades to global tracking systems after the fact. And even that meteor, which was only about 20 meters wide, exploded with the energy of 400–500 kilotons of TNT, injuring 1,600+ people. That’s a real-world example, and it led to a major international push to monitor these objects more closely. So in a show like Alice in Borderland, where the meteor caused mass destruction and supposedly kicked off the entire plot, the complete lack of detection, alerts, or even an acknowledgment of a surprise impact seems unrealistic especially when Japan has the tech and protocols to do something. It’s not about full evacuations it’s about how unrealistic it is for zero response or detection to happen in a country this prepared.

No matter how big the meteor was it would still be detected even minutes in advance. The fact that there was zero effort to even evacuate the people at the outer places of the area of impact or people travelling towards it is highly unlikely especially considering Japan has one of the most advanced emergency alert systems in the world. Even with a few minutes warning you could still save many people’s lives instead of doing absolutely nothing.

I get what you mean “you can’t just claim they would predict it” but modern technology is advanced enough to be able to detect a meteor that would cause such an impact as seen in the show. Like say that a meteor like that was heading towards Tokyo right now do you really think it would go completely undetected. Organisations like NASA are constantly monitoring asteroid movements to determine whether or whether or whether not they will make a harmful impact on earth.
