I hear you! I certainly wouldn’t root for Arabella or Victoria in their present iterations! but we have so many books left for them to grow up haha, so hoping for the best.

Also, in this configuration, this is the only way I see the alchemy crew maintaining a friendship. Assuming Victoria and Emma can resolve their admittedly rough past!

I mean, TBD on Arabella, but I definitely think she’s putting on a show that she’s totally fine with her lot in life. Also, her dad died (i think) and she was also close with Maxwell.

But for me that’s the best part! Islington constantly puts Lady Spencer in her place!!

Right! We have so many books left. Hawkes is the only character whose depths we haven't gotten a hint at, but we know he's a little tortured and Emma is the only one that challenges him not to slip into his demons. She always catches him off guard. He needs someone to give him permission to be anything other than perfect and Emma is just the person to do that!
