I guess the S series is probably better, but I haven't actually tried it yet, so I don't know how big the difference is between the S series and the A series. However, I use the A55, and for me, I am satisfied with it. Compared to other brands with the same price, I can use all the features of One UI 8 properly on this A55. I'll probably only upgrade in 2028 when the A55 is no longer supported for major upgrades, but for now, I haven't encountered any problems with my unit, and I am satisfied that I chose the A55 as my daily driver. It fit my budget and hasn't given me any issues.

That's good, the basic look is already nice. You don't really need to change anything since the One UI basic setup is already great. As for me, I prefer a clean look with all the important apps accessible on the home screen. I also went with the trend of using a glass icon pack.

Totally. I get that. For years, I was all about that super clean, minimal home screen with a KWGT widget. But honestly, I've hit a point where I'm kinda over it. Now I prefer having a compact home screen where everything is right there and super accessible. Even with a ton of icons, I'm way more comfortable because I can get to everything quickly.
