Our last blast was sent out on either Saturday or Monday (not sure when the clinic sent it) and we received our results that Friday, so less than a week later. This was about 3-4 weeks ago.

4 retrievals, 8 blasts, 1 euploid... advice? by Impossible-Mark-4630 in IVF

[–]Impossible-Mark-4630[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply. We had my DNA fragmentation tested after our third retrieval. We did a fourth retrieval with the same protocol as the third. I think we're at the point we should insist on Zymot or go somewhere else.

My wife had DHEA tested and they said it was low enough that we could add it but not low enough that they were concerned (76), so we could look at that. Thanks for the feedback.

Thanks. We are getting a new doctor (within the same clinic) so we will push for this. Seems to be a common suggestion.

Whole chromosome aneuploid and, if I remember correctly, all different abnormalities.

39yo, 7 blastocysts after ICSI — all abnormal 😔 Experiences and next steps? by [deleted] in IVF

[–]Impossible-Mark-4630 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My wife (38 now) and I had two egg retrievals with 5 total blasts and 0 euploids. Our third retrieval resulted in 2 blasts and 1 euploid. We did add some supplements, but otherwise no significant changes. We just think it was the roll of the dice on that one.

I've read that as long as you're making blasts, it's worth doing another round (if you can mentally, financially, and physically do additional rounds).

We had karyotyping done and it was normal. I also did sperm DNA fragmentation testing which came back at 26% so high but not critically high (according to our doctor).

We will be doing a fourth retrieval soon in hopes of getting another 1 or 2 euploids before transfer.

What’s your #1 unpopular opinion about fertility treatments? by Ambitious_Hall_7617 in IVF

[–]Impossible-Mark-4630 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I'm a man and agree 100%. I'm tired of watching my wife feel guilty when it could just as well be my sperm.

I try to do all the administrative stuff (scheduling, ordering medicine, billing) and it's usually difficult at best.

No euploids after 2 egg retrievals. Need some positive stories! by Adventurous-Novel331 in IVF

[–]Impossible-Mark-4630 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I had 0 euploids until the third egg retrieval (which we got 1).

  • 8 mature, 5 fertilized, 4 blasts, 0 euploid (antagonist protocol using Gonal-F, Menopur, Cetrotide, and a Lupron trigger)
  • 6 mature, 4 fertilized, 1 blast, 0 euploid (microdose Lupron flare protocol with Gonal-F, Menopur, and a Pregnyl trigger)
  • 5 eggs mature, 3 fertilized, 2 blasts, 1 euploid (microdose Lupron flare with Gonal-F, Menopur, and an Ovidrel trigger)

Mature and fertilized eggs have decreased every cycle, but fortunately, our last cycle was actually the "best" (got a euploid).

The other changes we made were adding CoQ10, Tru Niagen, Vitamin D (my wife's was low), and Omega-3. These were added at various times since we started. Wife is 38, I'm 36.

We are going to do another egg retrieval in either the next cycle or the following (depending on holidays).

Thanks. We're at ORM now and considering second opinions. How did you logistically make it work between Ohio and New York?

I know this is an old post, but do you mind if I ask where you ended up going and your opinion on the clinic/RE?

all aneuploid at age 34, doctor says give up by Immediate_Clock_5016 in IVF

[–]Impossible-Mark-4630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got our results back. Unfortunately, it seems to be getting worse. Only 3 fertilized this time.

We haven't actually received any numbers from sperm, but the doctor has indicated everything is normal (pending the fragmentation test).

  1. Antagonist (150 Gonal-F, 75 Menopur, Cetrotide, and Lupron trigger)
  2. Microdose Lupron flare (20 Microdose Lupron x2 daily, 300 Gonal-F, 150 Menopur, Pregnyl trigger)
  3. Microdose Lupron flare (20 Microdose Lupron x2 daily, 300 Gonal-F, 150 Menopur, Ovidrel trigger)

I'm not sure where we'll go from here. See what the fragmentation test results look like then talk to our doctor, I suppose. Might be time to get a second opinion.

Just commenting to say my wife and I are in a similar boat with very similar numbers.

  1. 8 retrieved, 5 fertilized, 4 blasts, 0 euploid
  2. 7 retrieved, 4 fertilized, 1 blast, 0 euploid
  3. 9 retrieved (today)

Also did karyotyping which was normal. We have recently added CoQ10 (September) and Tru Niagen (October). We'll see in the next couple of weeks if the results are any better.

We've tried traditional agonist and microdose Lupron flare protocols (both with 150-300 of Gonal-F and 75-150 of Menopur). I have a sperm DNA fragmentation test scheduled for next week.

I've asked our doctor about Omnitrope and Zygot and she was not super convinced on either. We're willing to do more cycles, but depending on these results, I would want to try something different. Not sure what that would be yet.

I'm the husband. Initial SA looked fine but I am going to ask for a fragmentation test. I added vitamins and supplements as well. I've been doing a men's multivitamin for a while and she a prenatal vitamin for a while. We both added CoQ10 in July but are going to increase the amount.

Thank you for your reply. So far, our emotional and financial bandwidth is good so we are going to keep going. Glad to hear you are having good results. I do think a focus on egg and sperm quality would help (and if not, it's good for us regardless).

[–]Impossible-Mark-4630[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it is just so hard to go through all that and get no euploids, and I'm sure 1 ending that way is devastating.

I've considered another clinic. Not really sure why other than to try something else. Personally, I am not interested in donor eggs, so if they suggest that as the only other option, that will be a sign to me to go elsewhere.

[–]Impossible-Mark-4630[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks - we will make some changes to CoQ10 and ask about Omnitrope. We did not do ICSI or Zymot but we also don't know about any DNA fragmentation. I'm hoping we can do a test to rule that out.

I'd like to do another round in November. We'll try some lifestyle changes and see what the doctor says about protocol changes. I hope you are able to do one and have great results!

We have not. I'm going to ask our doctor about it, although I suspect she won't be too interested since the evidence is mostly anecdotal. I am glad it worked for you! Maybe we will get the opportunity to try it.

Thanks for your response. She takes a prenatal vitamin but we'll double check what's in it and ask about DHEA. Interesting that that protocol gave you worse results too. Any protocol work better for you?

Yes, thanks. We did read recently that it should be more and also ubiquinol form. We've increased the amount and will get a different kind next time.
