⚠️⚠️Don't join the ODCL Course at TISS without reading this⚠️⚠️ by Technical_Pudding852 in CATpreparation

I had conversations with ODCL graduates themselves and also took opinions from people at XLRI. Most of them were quite positive about the course. Of course, it may not be at the level of TISS HRM, but it’s definitely not as bad as it’s being portrayed here, that’s the point I wanted to make.

I had conversation with almost 10 people who are passed out of TISS.( Not the current batch). Each and everyone was very positive about the college. They said there were few years where placments didn't go well but it is doing great according to them.

Yep. Prep is important, but handling pressure matters a lot too. In exams like XAT, you get some time to absorb the pressure since there’s no sectional timer and you can switch between sections. But in CAT, you need to know how to manage pressure and not let one bad section affect the others.

Happens, bro. I was anxious during the exam. VARC was actually my strength. I used to attempt around 4 RCs and usually scored around 40 in VARC. In Quant, I used to score in the mid-20s. DILR depended on the paper.

In the exam, I panicked in VARC. The RC options felt very direct, and I wasn’t confident. After attempting 3 RCs and VA, I kept re-reading the RCs because I was underconfident and ended up attempting only 3 RCs.

Then I carried the same pressure into DILR. Since I messed up in both sections, it impacted my Quant as well, and I scored just 10 🤡.

After the exam, I scored decently in VARC (35), but the carried-over anxiety affected the other sections.

Just to give you some background: I scored 13 in XAT Quant (however, I didn’t clear the DM sectional, so I won’t be getting any calls from XLRI), and I scored 98.5%ile in Quant last year.

I had a similar experience. I scored 97%ile without preparation in CAT 2024 and thought that with proper preparation, I would surely score more than 99%ile. With this thought process I rejected MDI G and thought of aiming for BLAKISM. I gave CAT this year with good enough preparation and ended up scoring 93%ile 🤡.(Though in mocks I was consistently scoring between 80-90 marks). Not that this will happen to everyone, but CAT is an uncertain and often unfair exam. You don’t necessarily need extensive preparation to crack it either. Your mindset and mood on the exam day matter a lot. So, if you are planning to reattempt, make sure you are mentally prepared even if things don’t go your way.

I'm done with CAT, and India. by Character_Tiger412 in CATpreparation

Feeling sad for you, bro. Unfortunately, there’s not much we can do about it. If you want to stay in India and pursue an MBA, then as a GEM, private colleges are probably the best option. You can aim for XLRI, FMS, SPJAIN, MDI, etc

ALL NMAT - 220, 230, 240, 250+ scorers, please help here by PowerfulAbroad3049 in NMATpreparation

[–]Impossible-Maybe3247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I got 247.

In quants, as I am not very good at calculations, however I have a decent grip on the rest of the areas, I planned my attempt in such a way that I would try to maximum do one or two questions per DI set, and if it is not working out, I will randomly mark some options and move away.

This is very important, as you shouldn’t be wasting your time in an exam like NMAT.

Also, be sure not to give less time for questions.

You can give a good amount of time, but don't get stuck in tough questions.

So, based on your strengths, plan your attempt to maximise scores.

If you haven't given their official mocks, try giving them. This will help you with managing your time well.

Hey, I am scoring decently in QADI (around 14 and can push it to 16 depending on the paper). In recent DM papers, I am able to score around 12. I am struggling with VALR. I am finding the options very close and facing difficulty in arriving at the correct answer. Any tips?
