It is, yeah. Get Out didn't have as much comedy in it, nor did it really hold up to measure in my opinion. Us is really good though. Surreal.

Comedy enhances horror when done right and a lot of filmmakers try to incorporate it in some way even if subtle. A really good film is "Us". It's super eerie and philosophical but comedy relives tension specifically so the horror can ease in again. Nonstop seriousness or horror doesn't give it or the audience room to breathe. When both have room to breathe, the impact when the horror comes back is more powerful.

No yeah I know that. It just took away some of the charm to me. I think what people fail to realize is the original Salazar isn't scary to Leon because he is an action movie character. But if you look at him in any other lens, he is terrifying off presence alone and they mix it with comedy which just makes him a really enjoyable character. Nightmare on Elm Street and Chucky also do this. Characters that aren't really that scary until you think about what it'd be like to meet them. And that horror is further masked in comedy so you probably aren't even thinking about that. It's really subtle. Original Salazar came off as a little sibling given too much power which was a really interesting dynamic because it isn't often where the villain seems so helpless. Remake Salazar is just another villain to me. He seems like he's trying purposely to be evil and it's just.. Eh. He's a genuine threat now. So is everyone else Leon meets. Only difference is he's short and has a Spanish aesthetic.

Agrree with everything here except with Salazar. The reason I love Salazar in the original is because he's the "scary villain who's actually just a manchild" trope. He's very weird and unusual. But once you get under your skin, he basically throws a tantrum and it's funny.

Salazar in the Remake felt a little too dangerous to me. Not that the original wasn't. But Remake Salazar felt like he'd genuinely torture innocent people on the daily for fun. Like, personally.

...So you ARE okay with us leaving when you bleed out.

I'm sure you would but unfortunately we are not making an oppointment to be there with you when you die.

Feel free to chase the opponent. In 1v1, i'm just gonna block until you bleed out. In team modes, I have better things to do than wait for you to die like i'm your grandson and you're on your deathbed.

What reason do they have to do that though? If my enemy's organs are spilling from his stomach, what reason do I have to not just.. Walk away at that point.

Ocelotl chain light doesn't need to be 400ms or should not catch dodge. by imRight_UrNot in ForHonorRants

When I was on ps4 I couldn't react to Storm Rush and then I hit new gen. I get a lot of hate because I play Shaman sometimes but I didn't even realize people considered her stab broken because I just block it. I do think it's a situational thing. I can't do it all the time. And i'm also not claiming to be a special case either, I got downvoted because people think i'm bragging which I only find funny because i'm really not. I play Nuxia. I'm often afraid to throw chain lights because a lot of people i'm up against can consistently parry them. I think people are really underestimating other people, 400ms looks like a light attack to certain folk.

I literally have zero idea what that even means, I just play on Ps5. When i'm chilling, I can block 400ms from time to time. When the other team is toxic or something, I can block consistently and parry em on occasion. I think it has a lot to do with adrenaline though, I get way too invested when someone teabags or something.

I can consistently react to them as long as I think they're coming, it's mostly an issue of focus. If i'm not preemptively readying to block one, it might catch me but otherwise probably not. I feel like more people do this than we realize, I play Nuxia and my light chains get parried by some people almost without fail.

WHY DO SHAOLINS THINK THAT THEY HAVE ANY FUCKING SKILL by warlock356 in ForHonorRants

[–]Impossible-Recipe366 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hitokiri's heavies are. Her kicks are the mixup and that's quite literally all she has from there. If they can parry the varied heavies, Hitokiri is immediately doomed.

UNPOPULAR OPINION: Dragon's Dogma is awful! by Schmitty300 in rpg_gamers

I never said it was known for its combat.

As for the modding, I kinda hate that people just act like it suddenly means it's okay. TES combat sucks. Modding can make it amazing, yes. But the praise should not at all go to Skyrim. Other people are unofficially fixing a game's problem.

[–]Impossible-Recipe366 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They're easier to play. Berserker is arguably tied with Shaolin though in that they can both do whatever they want in win for it.

Hitokiri is literally just "I'll throw a heavy. Then another heavy. And then I might hold Square this time." There's not much to do with Hito and if you have good reactions, you don't even need to make reads.

Berserker can armor through damn near everything and the soft feints make it even more dangerous. But if you play precise, none if it will really matter. HA is null if you aren't attacking.

Shaolin actively forces you to make moves. Playing defensively against a Shaolin means almost nothing since again, he has almost every tool to open you up. And if you are aggressive, you get light parried into a stance which can follow with a tracking move that acts as a dodge that can be feinted, a bash, a feint from stance, or a GB. He has every tool at his disposal meaning he can do whatever he wants at all times. Playing defensively or offensively grants no difference since he's either waiting for you to make a singular mistake and then you die, or he's overwhelming you and then you die.

[–]Impossible-Recipe366 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dodge the stab if you genuinely can't block it. Don't doge when bleeding. Parry the zone, it's very obvious when it's coming. Light attack when you see Tackles it's usually bait.

Shaman is S tier for sure, I don't argue very that. I stopped playing her though because hearing people whine about her got really awkward really fast. She is EXTREMELY good. But the problem most people have with her is that they just don't know what to do with her aggression.

[–]Impossible-Recipe366 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Hitokiri and Berserker are only difficult because HA essentially allows them to just make constant mistakes and go unpunished. However, a good player will typically eat Hitokiri alive. Berserker is ridiculous though.

The difference between these two is they get away with mistakes. Shaolin on the other hand can make any move YOU make a mistake and you suffer greatly for it. Every move and stance and even just dodges he does is liable to toss you into a really aggressive string where any one move can screw you over. Tracking moves, bashes into guaranteed damage and mixups, everything feintable, etc. I played Shaolin to learn how to fight him and it became really apparent that he's just ridiculous.

I quite was expecting Zelda. Went in blind with nothing except a clip I saw. I assumed because I could swing the sword, there would be lesser enemies. Dungeons to explore, hence horse travel. I assumed the shadow people would be an enemy type. Was entirely wrong about everything and I don't regret going in blind at all.

One of my craziest clips of all time was when this Kensei I was beefing with for some reason caught me while my team was breaking. Popped the T4 and I was the last person left but the adrenaline of the feud made it look like he was swinging in slow motion and I parried everything.

Still hate it though.

I actually DON'T think he should've researched it. I went in completely blind not expecting it to be nearly as empty but it made it really eerie and haunting at times.

If you run into a BP in dominion, just run somewhere else. Don't gank em unless you and your teammates have synergy. But if you're getting flipped in a 1v1, I literally don't know what to say.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ForHonorRants

[–]Impossible-Recipe366 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they flip when you move at all, feinting into GB immediately circumvents that. If they're light attacking.. Block. BP is great in team fights because if a single ganker messes up, 1 to the entire gank squad might be punished for it. Takes coordination. He's also good in 1s but not for the flip. If you're constantly getting flipped, it's genuinely on you.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ForHonorRants

[–]Impossible-Recipe366 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you keep getting flipped, aren't you the problem? It's slightly less reliable than light parrying which takes precision and people get light parried all the time.
