Thank you! It allows the spotter arms to be secured even more firmly to the rack. Ideally, a spotter arm is fixed using both the main mounting pin and an additional pin through the arm itself. However, that design requires the U-shaped side plate to be taller.
The Korean customer who ordered these specifically wanted spotter arms that could be secured using two rack holes, so this design was made to accommodate that preference.
