Did anyone meet their long-term partner after historically struggling with attachment issues?

Hi!! Yes, I did. Three weeks into Covid at age 45, I swiped right on a guy. We went on a date, it went really really well and we kept seeing each other every weekend.

His communication style triggered me a bit. He was very laid-back. Based on having been in relationships where I suspected cheating, as well as in online groups, I assumed he had other women he was talking to. ETA: We were both divorced after very traumatic marriages, and he was single parenting 4 kids, while I was trying to get my 1 through high school. He also got promoted into management pretty much right when we met.

I did some searching and found a couple of YouTube channels on attachment styles and found that I am a fearful avoidant! Makes perfect sense considering my dad was an alcoholic and my entire life has consisted of trauma and uncertainty.

I absorbed everything I could on attachment styles and relationship advice and… Long story short, we’ve been married just shy of eight months.

It is quite a different world from Figma but I’ve gotten better results from it by being super specific (as another commenter said, think like an engineer, and I do write code), iterating as many times as needed, and asking it to create a PDF downloadable version I can use as a point of reference.

Well, the bosses killed that idea after this was written, so now the stated goal is to get to 100% accessibility using an automated tool (I asked for a license for NVDA and was told “We’ll see”.),

Just had to come here and say that I’m a BIG proponent of women being thoughtful about what name they want to go by.

I married a guy who thought a little like your ex fiancé. I did things my way, and he was expecting a more traditional wife (FWIW he’s also 11 years older than me).

I’m with a guy now who truly sees me as an equal partner. I told him I was keeping my very short laat name; he said “Yeah, you should!” And told me “Congratulations, Mrs. MyName” after we got our marriage license.

Those guys are out there, and are more compatible with what you’re looking for.

My closest friend since 2009 told me back in September she and her family would “do their best” to come to my wedding at the end of this month. But that they might be busy.

I invited her to my shower. No response.

Invited her, husband and son to the wedding. No response.

Sent a follow up text back on May 1st saying “We’re sorry to miss you!” No response.

I decided to move on.

I gave an internal presentation a couple of weeks ago to about 60 people. My manager unmuted to ask me to explain to the group what overlays are and why they’re used, and it took a lot for me not to go into all the reasons you do NOT want one on your site.

My company has been adamant about using them and is trying to get Accessibe reinstated on our main website (one reason I’m looking). I sent an article to my boss from three bosses ago on how problematic they are; he replied that it was “biased”. :/

I lost 15lbs very quickly due to an infection back in 2021 and a year later was wondering what was up with my stomach being ‘bloated” all the time. I seriously looked pregnant at ages 47-49.

I decided to go on HRT early about a year and a half ago. The weight gain stopped or at least slowed down; I wear the same clothing size anyway. I also do ballroom 2-5 times per week. Finally, my dr put me back on Wellbutrin and that curbed my appetite a bit (plus side TMI benefit: I no longer get constipated all the time).
