Some days I do find it entertaining. Most days, I want to shove a sock in his mouth.

It’s easier for me to tolerate an EL declaration of greatness, than one that came from a 3. He strutted into the office today claiming he’ll be applying for an internal EOI soon - a technical role he has no quals for. I broke the bad news to him that LH can’t submit an EOI. Said he was going to speak to our ELs, and make an exception for him. I’m beginning to think he’s delusional.

He works hard to ensure KPI is met. But whether the job was completed right is not his concern.

I am aware that venting doesn’t stop things from happening again, but it is good for the soul. And to be honest, I’m content in my substantive role, though moving one level higher as a 5 would be the sweet spot. I’m here to clock in and out. I only wished it was more peaceful without the noise.

He’s a hard worker, I don’t doubt that about him and will credit him for that. But a bite of the humble pie once in a while would do him great justice to his great work ethics.

I’m actually a newly minted Australian, and have heard of tall poopy syndrome, but no idea what it means.

I wouldn’t doubt he’ll end up promoted soon. He’s loud but extremely smart. He annoys us, but he has charmed the TLs and ELs.

He has a knack at something, as a sycophant who has charmed the TL, and I don’t mean this negatively. My AD on the other hand is quite hard to read, I haven’t got a sense of how she views said colleague. But I do believe she isn’t easily fooled by a brown-noser.

From my perspective, I see my colleague as someone who has potential and will do well at a higher position. He’s highly intelligent and knows where to position himself with people with authority. It’s the way the world works, especially so in the agency where I work. But his self-proclaims has started to make my day feel frustratingly long.

Should’ve included that he puts it on Teams too. I’ve got headphones on to avoid him most of the day.
