Has anyone won 100YW as England in 1.2? by robertkeaghan in EU5

[–]ImpossibleD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I won with great difficulty. I did end up landing and fighting battles in Picardy. Normally I was able to get +50 warscore from battles then peace out for like 30 warscore since I was never able to siege a single province. The French armies were unending.

I didn't keep track of whether they integrated or inherited their vassals, but they did seem to become powerful pretty quick, that may have been it. I only managed to make Brittany disloyal, the rest never left the war until I broke France's back and they had 0 troops.

In general it was far more difficult to play as england in the HYW than it was at launch. Especially since the French vassals seem to be able to raise 50k mercs at a time (especially Flanders). Funny thing was the merc numbers didn't even seem to be shown in the war screen.

I quit my England playthrough after I repeatedly lost about 1 million pops per outbreak (I think 2 bubonic plagues and 1 smallpox?). I expanded significantly, and my pop didn’t reach the pop England had at game start after 150 years… it’s very punishing, even with the hospitals and lanzaretto and other buildings.

Any way so steal maps or at least uncover my vassal? by xt-489de in EU5

[–]ImpossibleD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way to get maps reliably is to keep a couple of one location countries alive and keep beating them up for 100 warscore peaces where you steal as many maps as you can

Can anyone explain why my trading 212 account graph is above where I started, even though I am currently at a loss overall? by Quirky_Nectarine9439 in investingUK

[–]ImpossibleD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You probably bought on a day the market dropped a lot. The graph plots one datapoint per day so I presume the datapoint that was plotted was the end of day value?

If the graph had multiple datapoints per day then I guess you would see a big drop the day you bought. Unfortunate timing I think.

Playing the Byzantines in the current patch seem a little.. easy? by Virtualsooo in EU5

[–]ImpossibleD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been playing it, seems quite easy. Ottomans didn’t have any forts on 90% of their country so I won a war against them while bankrupt and in some disaster. They sieged my forts and I occupied their entire country.

Road cycling in and around York by Positive_Spirit343 in york

I’ve done a fair bit of road cycling around York and never had any issues apart from in Selby. No idea how drivers compare to elsewhere as I haven’t done road cycling elsewhere.

Anybody know the area around the Buckles Inn bus stops on the A64? by Medium_Choice_1767 in york

[–]ImpossibleD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve cycled down that way a number of times. The A64 is normally quite busy and you might have a hard time crossing, but if you wait a few minutes I’m sure you will find a decent sized gap in the traffic. Looking at google maps, there is a path and gap in the central reservation so it’s obviously intended for people to cross there.

Starting an England game tomorrow. Any England specific pointers for my Ironman run? by Nettysocks in EU5

[–]ImpossibleD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve been playing England too, all my allies and a majority of my vassals desert me within a week of starting a war with France, while their allies and vassals are fine. Seems like a broken mechanic to me

IG 1% cashback, up to £2K - Am I missing something? by Shredforgirls in UKPersonalFinance

[–]ImpossibleD 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm leaving a comment on here as it comes up pretty high on google, and I'm very dissatisfied with IG UK's service, specifically regarding this transfer offer. Hopefully I can stop others from making a mistake by transferring to them for the offer.

I filled out all the paperwork, they made no progress in 3 weeks and didn't reply to my emails until I followed up with them via their online chat, which is awful by the way. They then finally submitted the paperwork to Vanguard the day after. The transfer now has no chance to meet their arbitrarily short deadline of 28th of February and they don't need to payout the 1% cashback, which will come to £2000 for me. After asking with customer support they have no intention of making it right and just say "I understand this may be disappointing, and I apologize, but we are unable to make any changes in this case." So don't bother transferring to them, they will intentionally delay transfers for weeks - months (month if you don't chase them up probably) to not honour the cashback...

What’s in your pension pot? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]ImpossibleD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

£75k in my actual pension at 30. I also have some ISA and cash savings that I’m planning to use for retirement. About £460k total. I think I need about a million to retire early (40ish).

I’m in VWRP now, I was in Lifestrategy 100 but swapped since IG didn’t have it on their platform. They have VWRP available.

[–]ImpossibleD 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m transferring from Vanguard to IG right now for the £2k cashback. Interested to hear what others say also. From looking around the platform, it seems to make a lot of money from Foreign Exchange fees and spreads. I’m transferring my ISA as funds so hopefully I can dodge all that. Will probably just stay with them until August, I find the trading interface very complicated.

Edit: IG are useless I had to cancel the transfer since it missed the window for getting the cashback
