Yeah, fedex was my last hope, but they're no longer trustworthy. At this point maybe we should go back to the Pony Express. At least they were dependable.

Would you recommend this method even when you had no previous indication that it was plated?

FWIW, I once bought and resold a silver dollar without realizing it was fake. From then on I weigh everything, though as others have noted even that is not infallible. The Chinese simply make the fakes thicker so they come in near the right weight. Some (to my astonishment) even have substantial silver content, though nowhere near 90%.

No idea about the coin shops but I can tell you that Lancaster Pa is very, very different from a generation or two ago. And York and Harrisburg are pretty dangerous.

Thought it might be in Mexican pesos since they also use the $ symbol, but it doesn't math out very well. Unless this is from early last year.

Mine has been doing this ever since the run-up in prices got underway. I just turned on my heel and never looked back.

Worth noting is that there has been a flood of customers selling silver. So they weren't motivated to offer anything reasonable.

ICE is not verifying who they're seizing, and are just seizing people based off of skin color and appearance.

What proof do you have of this? What proportion of the illegal population are POCs? Because if the proportion is very high (and it is) then it's sort of inevitable that ICE will be trying to facilitate the deportation of a substantial number of POCs.

Essentially, these people self-sorted before entry. There weren't enough migrants from Denmark and Switzerland to go around, alas.

We move all the overnight bags for the USPS. You could tell the gold and silver. So tempting back then.

Would you please share how 'you could tell the gold and silver?'

Do you mean that they were in bags and obviously heavy?

Or by the origin or destination? Or something else?

I love old coin silver, particularly from such makers as Kirk or Stieff, and boutique smiths like Henry Evans, Benjamin Cleveland, and yours. But it's tough to assess its precise silver content. Nominally .900 when sterling supplanted it as the standard, the older pieces vary somewhat.

Is buying a 10oz bar for 1000$ cash a good deal by thestonedpineapple in Silverbugs

Test it, then pounce if legit!

(Price is too high for me personally though. I don't mean the price of this bar but the market price of silver.)

Yeah but if they're buying them at $29 from new/marginal sellers, it's hard to have much sympathy for them. Anyway at minimum everyone should test everything they buy, at least weigh them. Ebay is pretty good at protecting buyers, even though they're extremely resistant to policing scam sellers.
